  1. So nevermind has come up with this lame ice-storm excuse for probably not sending any turns in the next few days. The truth is, he's deathly afraid that his crummy little Panthers will get taken out by my intricate web of anti-tank defenses (at this point I'm pretty much relying on molotov cocktails, this being a CMBB Op). Ice-storms? Come on   , we Canadians don't even flinch when an ice-storm hits... mainly 'cause you don't want your eyelids to freeze shut.

Now he also suggested that I come here for more opponents, where my tactics for getting your infantry and armour routed might be appreciated (I just perfected the get-infantry-barbequed-by-flamethrower HT manoeuvre). So if any of you are game for some stiff competition, look elsewhere. Otherwise, I can probably take on 2 more games (BO,BB,AK - no qb's, please). Oh, and I also know lots of useful german like "Ich ergebe mich!" and "Mein Leben!"

  2. My pbem opponents might say "not very well." ;)

Up until recently just played the AI in scenarios, but now I've discovered that it's more fun to be able to taunt a real live opponent as you crush his pathetic forces into the ground. At least I assume it will be if/when it happens.

I still prefer scenarios to qb's - more of a historical feel to the game.

  3. nevermind, that PBEM opponent of yours sounds quite clever, not to mention devilishly handsome!! :D

Just as a warning, I don't post much on the forum (despite being clever, I really don't know much) but I do come here to try and soak up some knowledge.

If you feel your strategy has been compromised, you'll be happy to know that I'm doing the same thing as you (hmmmm, a tank battle with mostly stationary tanks) because when I played this Op against the AI, my tanks got repeatedly pummelled from the air.

So just put your tanks out in the open and send me the next turn. smile.gif

  4. The way I see it is that the axis lost through inferior strategy (at the highest level) and the lack of resources to build their best weapons in the numbers needed to win the war.

The culmination of this is trying to fight on two fronts against the U.S. and Russia who both had relatively limitless resources.

  5. I've found CA's to be very important in some of the operations I've played, especially when I'm heavily outnumbered by the attacker. CA's are an effective way of making the maximum impact at the minimum expense of ammunition. Before I started using CA's I found that I was running out of ammo a lot, resulting in my positions being overrun. I haven't played CMBO as much so I can't really compare it to the ambush markers, but I have no complaints with the cover arcs in CMBB.

  6. I almost always play operations. I think it is because I enjoy the larger scope of operations. In a masochistic sort of way, I enjoyed playing the Tractor Works operation in CMBB, where it took my crappy computer an hour to calculate a turn (you can always read a book, or do the laundry). I've finished most of the ones that come with the game, so I should probably look into to downloading some new ones.
