yurch
I'm not up to date on modern armor/mortar combat, but smoke/obscurement rounds are still used, right? Could we get some smoke rounds for the mortar and conventional-cannon armed units? We've already got a flavor selection method for ammunition and graphics from the command smoke-mission... Mortar smoke is used, but tanks pretty much just use HEAT and sabot. The philosophy seems to be that tanks are there to kill other tanks, and other roles fall to lighter vehicles. It would be great if we could get mortar smoke, or maybe smoke generators/launchers on the armored vehicles. Smoke tends to even things out for lighter/weaker forces. Bnej
Modern tanks have bunches of smoke grenades, but not actual smoke rounds for the main gun. Both HE and Smoke ammo work better if they are fired at lower velocity, as the shell wall doesn't have to be so thick, so modern tank guns are not the best HE/Smoke throwers. The intention of the smoke launchers is to completely obscure the tank from the front and allow it to reverse out of danger. Artillery still uses smoke rounds, often with particles included to interfere with infrared vision devices.
aittam
still MBT and/or command veicles should be able to fire some kind of flare that would appear on the minimap, even sticky ammo to mark enemy veicles
Moronic Max
If you can hit an enemy vehicle, why use a sticky round? Maybe if they implement some sort of Ogre/Bolo-esque uber unit of doom, then I could see that.
