  1. Actually, it does not. It has some elements of the real T-72B FCS, but has some simplifications made for it for some reason or another. SB1 FCS is realistic enough to use it as a gunnery training tool, T-72 BoF FCS is not. And yes I know BoF wasn't designed for that purpose, but neither was SB1. I could argue more about the realism level between these 2 games, but it would just develop into another pissing contest and Moon would have to lock this nice thread.
  2. Are you joking? That site says exactly what I said. OFS = HEF BKS = HEAT
  3. Actually BKS is HEAT. OFS is HE-Frag. It must have been nice shot by the way, because of the ~400m/s velocity of the round in game.
  4. 400-3000m. In addition, gunner has a switch that tells the LRF to ignore any returns below 1200 or 1800 meters. If you lase target that is below 400m the sight goes to battlesight range which is 800m.
  5. Umm, Russian tanks didn't have autoloaders until T-64, T-55 and T-62 still had human loaders. Loading angle for autoloader in T-64 & T-72 is +3.5 degrees, turret can be in any position.
  6. Less internal volume needed, thus less weight and smaller target. You need to train less men as well per company, which saves costs. Modern autoloaders are pretty fast as well, matching the speed of human loaders, 3-4 seconds. This issue has been discussed intesively at TankNet. Here's couple links : Link 1 Link 2
  7. Human loader could have a stroke, be clumsy and drop the round, break his fingers when blast door closes. Not very likely, but possible. Just like malfunctions with T-72 autoloaders. There are good arguments for having human loaders. Reliability, however, is not one of them.
  8. Actually it was. It compares quite well with Leo 1, M48, M60 and Chieftain tanks. Boomer, check this link for T-72 autoloader info.
  9. Well, T-72 should load first few rounds in 7 seconds. As the carousel gets emptier, reload times get longer, up to 13 or 14 seconds.
  10. I wouldn't worry about the size issue too much. I'm 5'11 and didn't have problems with any position. Sure it takes some time to learn how to slide in the most efficient way, but that's it. We had guys who were 6'2 and 6'3 and they fit in with no problem. P.S. Autoloader won't eat your arm either
  11. Looks like a typical thermal sleeve to me. And to stay on subject, I was a T-72M1 gunner in FDF and it didn't really help me a one bit with BoF as the similarities between RL and IG T-72 are minimal.
  12. Heh, and you call me childish.
  13. It's common sense. Or perhaps you like to buy your pigs in a sack? Go ahead, I won't do it. The end result is still either one happy customer more or one unhappy less. I couldn't care less if you or anyone else don't approve it. The end justifies the means for me. Moon and flamingknives, demo argument has been covered in earlier discussion.
  14. Whatever. I have the right to know what I am paying for and if I'm not given that chance I'll make myself one.
  15. So the customer is to blame if industry is rotten? Great. How is customer supposed to know what the game is like then if he can't trust magazines, there is no demo available(or only poor one) and he has no information about the company because they are rather new to the business or they have just changed dev teams etc. etc. Just take the gamble and buy the game? Sorry, that just doesn't cut it for some people and as long as publishers dont realize that, these people will continue to download and try the game out for free. Instead of spending their money on copy protection systems that end up doing harm only to their paying customers, why don't they concentrate their money into making better quality products and offering trial versions or decent demos of their products? After broadband connections got widespread, most of them have only managed to shoot themselves into the foot when they could have used some imagination and take advantage of it.
