Peach Operations
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but in 1.07, TOWs appear to be unusually powerful relative to tank HEAT rounds. The game will usually let me cave in a building's wall with a TOW hit or two, but if I try the same thing with 120mm HEAT rounds, I have to hit again and again and again (6-7 from what I've seen, though it varies) to achieve the same effect. I've been having a lot of fun with it in missions that involve Bradleys -- just area target the floor of a building that a Syrian infantry squad is using, and one or two TOWs later, they're history. The cannon on my M1s, by contrast, don't seem quite as useful. Is this right?
YankeeDog
The TOW's HEAT round carries considerably more HE than a 120mm HEAT round. This is all off the top of my head, but IIRC, HE component only of the TOW warhead weighs about 26lb, while the entire 120mm HEAT round weighs about the same. So obviously the weight of the HE in the 120mm projectile must be somewhat less than 26lb. So you'd expect the TOW missile to provide at least somewhat more boom vs. buildings. Whether the exact degree represented in the game is accurate, is another matter. Cheers, YD EDIT: Nevermind. I should remember not to trust the figures I pull out of my @ss after 4 beers. . . Further research reveals that the modern TOW warhead has more like 6kg--15lb HE. Wasn't able to find more reliable data on the 120mm projectile HE charge; 25lb. appears to be about right for the total projectile weight, but how much of that is HE, I don't know.
