lyceum
I think I need to update my video card drivers. I have an Nvidia GeForce 2 64mb MX. Firstly, what ones should I get, 29.42 or 30.82? Also, can I simply install the new ones and they will overwrite the old ones, or have I got to uninstall the old ones first, if so, how do I do that? Many thanks for your help as I really want to get the best from CM:BB. Cheers, Tom.
FSchJg. Anchorage
Which OS do you have? Usually it's best to get the latest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com (which seem to be 40.72?). The recommended way to perform the upgrade is: -change your video card driver to standard VGA -reboot and then unistall nvidia display drivers (and misc. files if you have manufacturers' drivers) -reboot and run the new driverfile. But some say that it's safe to just install the new drivers in top of the other. So it's your choice. (ed.) I used to do the full monty but got tired and drivers from 20.83 or above seemed to work when installed on top of each other. Month ago I reinstalled the system and ran drivers (30.82). Haven't updated them later. [ October 15, 2002, 06:30 PM: Message edited by: FSchJg. Anchorage ]
Mud
Both 29.42 and 30.82 should work fine, IIRC; I'm using 30.82 w/ a GF2MX400/64MB and Win2KPro, for what it's worth.
