Playing and enjoying the Game, however even though I have read the Manual some questions.

This is from several games as Axis.

On Research, even though I`m usually maxed out in Research and the specific areas I want, I only get to max Heavy Tank ( Tigers) by late `44 - early `45. Same with Jet Aircraft, if I get them at all it late `45 almost too late to be useful. The whole German research seems much slower then in SC.

On Unit addings Medals ( more battle experience ) since Germany need more units to cover the Fronts and their cheaper I always build Corps. The problems seems to be that when an upgraded ( Inf. weapons and AT ) size 6 German Corps with 3 medals is hit by a no upgrade no experience Russian Army it always knocks them down to 3 or even 2. Then when hit by another Russian Army which is nearby their destroyed. This always happens. It`s seems that the experience, which is a great Game idea, dosen`t work well if at all with the aggressive AI, and your better off always reinforcing the units back to 10 which lowers the experience down. Any comments on this ?

As a general comment, IMO the changes from SC have made the Game impossible to win as the Axis at all but the easest setting and even then you need to eliminate the Russian Partisians ( which really need to be weak static units that don`t attack but do block supply) and Siberian Reinforcements.

Wish List: The ability to quick build weak units that would at least have a ZOC and some ability to defend, say in 1 turn, units like Volkstrumm or Russian Partisians or British/US Home Guard for very many MPP`s.

- For one thing in SC2 there is a research cap of 750 mpps for Germany and on the other hand there is usually also no catch-up effect on the higher levels. At least not in Heavy Tanks and most likely also not in Jets since there are more important things to research, so you are pretty sure the only one researching it and in contrary to SC1 there is no race to reach level 5, so no catch-up smile.gif . That means to reach level 4-5 in deed in average needs a bit longer.

- experience plays no real role for land/naval units. Only for air units that are sent on anti-ground missions, experience is valuable. In any case you always need to reinforce to full strenght whenever possible, as readiness and therefore combat efficiency highly depends on the strength of a unit.

In SC1 each command rating and HQ experience bar had the same effect as one strength point of the unit, so it was still powerful even at low strength. But in SC2 this has changed and there is a multiplicative relationship with the strength points of the unit. So it is important to keep them at high strenght.

- Concerning playing Axis, SC2 is pretty similar to SC1 smile.gif : As new/unexperienced player you will have a problem to win with Axis as you make many mistakes. But when you have played some (multiplayer-) games and learned how to play Axis and the basic strategies, then this changes so more Allies have the problem ;) . In SC1 this lead to the bid systems with currently around 10.000 bonus mpps given to Allies to balance the game.

This is not necessary in SC2 so far, but Allies are surely not in the advantage between equal players that are experienced and know what they are doing smile.gif .

P.S.:

Partisans can easily be prevented, same as in SC1 by placing units at the right spots and Axis have more than enough minor units (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland etc.) to do this job smile.gif

Also, readiness and morale are very important factors. If you have a unit at strength 6, it is very likely that readiness and morale are also low. You can't just hammer ahead as an Axis player, but have to have a balance between agressively moving forward to take units and objectives, and resting units to keep readiness and morale high.

Also it is key to use aircraft to reduce enemy morale and readiness as well.

Finally, weather has a huge effect as well.

It takes many battles with human opponents to learn the little details like perhaps destroying supply from cities prior to destroying units to make units cost more when rebuilt. I don't think you can become a very good player learning against only AI. After playing multiplayer several times, you will find it impossible to lose against AI at expert levels even with bonuses to AI whether playing Axis or Allies.
