conor13
i just played chance encounter as the german army an won it( this is really something for me, i'm a twelve year-old newbie here)!!! it was a great learning scenario if you have my amount of experience as me. i got a ? for anyone who want's to answer: how do you keep your stupid StuGIII's alive and shootin'? all mine were wiped out with only taking out 1 sherman. I relied on my panzerschrecks to wipe them out. I eventually charged the last remaining victory point with 4 turns left and used MG-40 fire from the big two story house and ended the scenario with an american surrender. so, got an answer for my question? note: any and all answers will be tried. ------------------
RudeLover
Hi Conor, This scenario has been much discussed here since the day it was released as a 'new' scenario for the Beta Demo. You could search on 'Stug' and 'Chance' for days of reading on approaches to this scenario and handling the StuG III. A couple of sample threads, just to get you started: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001664.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001732.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/002465.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/002927.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/004685.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/001615.html
Guest Captitalistdoginchina
Hi, Before the full game was released this question was the talk of the town because we all were playing the demo which includes this scenario....you may even be playing the demo yourself? Anyway i had the most success by keeping the 3 StuGs together, if you split them up they can get outgunned and out manoevered very quickly by the Shermans. Their success depends on engaging the Shermans in numbers so try and let your 3 stugs take on one sherman at a time if possible. Do not bring your Stugs forward too early hunting for the Shermans, better to set your StuGs in hull down positions and wait for a Sherman to come looking for you, then hopefully you will be able to use 2 or 3 of your guns to bear at the same time. Patience is the key. Good positions are: 1) From your start point head towards the woods on your right hand side, there you will find a small rise where you can get at least 2 of your tanks into ambush positions. 2) Start with your Stugs directly behind the Church - move your tanks at high speed and get into position using the church as cover, wait there in ambush 3) Take your Stugs at the far left of your map, run at full speed to the woods in front of you across the road then swing right and wait. In all 3 options keep your tanks together as much as you can. Get into positions where your flanks are covered, becasue you have no turrets your tank must turn to engage, the Shermans have turrets and can bring their guns to bear on you faster than you can, but if you have your sides covered by a building you can keep your tank facing the direction you expect the Shermans to show up. Hope this helps you young man. Terry (CDIC) ------------------ "Death solves all problems - no man no problem" J.V.Stalin, 1918
