Marty
I sure hope there is something I have missed while working with the editor. I'd give anything for an automatic slope smoothing tool! Such as something I can mark the bottom of a sloping road and the top of the slope and suddenly there it is, nice and smooth, just like the Quick Battle generator does it. For the life of me, it seems all the roads I modify end up looking like stairsteps, sawteeth or o'scope patterns! I won't even discuss what happens when I use the 5.0 meter increment... I know, I know, just play with all the cute little landmasses til it looks right... ...but first I have to get another bottle of aspirin.
Guest Germanboy
I think in order to have a fully smooth road, you have to have three tiles in a row at the same elevation. Which is a bit of a pain, especially when doing complex maps, but it works. straight east-west road (numbers indicate height level) ........8 ........7 ------7----- .......7 .......6 north-east to south-west road 8......./ ..7..../ ....7/ ...../ 7 ..../....6 etc. I hope this works out. That is the only way I can get them smooth. ------------------ Andreas [This message has been edited by Germanboy (edited 07-11-2000).]
Wild Bill Wilder
Actually two should be enough for the even slope, or that has been my finding. But three works well too. There should be some uneven spots here and there, dips, rises, much like real ground. Careful with slopes that are too steep. Tanks have a hard time with them. ------------------ Wild Bill Lead Tester/Designer Combat Mission-Beyond Overlord billw@matrixgames.com
Marty
Thanks to both of you for your comments. I'll try again and see if there are any smooth slopes out there...
