Wakner
Hi Been hanging around these forums for years now, but only just got around to signing in! To continue a recent CMBB thread, I'd like to agree that these are the most intelligent, reasonable yet entertaining boards that I have come across. I have just written a note to Battlefront requesting an addition to the bibliography page, and I'd like to bring it up here also: A great friend of my grandfather's, Edward Wilson, recent completed a history of the Fifth Royal Tank Regiment in World War Two ... as many of you will know, 5RTR fought almost continuously from 1940 to 1945 and, most relevant for this board, was part of the Seventh Armoured Division (Desert Rats) in the Eigth Army in North Africa, moving to First Army for the end of the North Africa campaign. Then taking part in the invasions of Italy, France, the Low Countries and Germany. The desert war account, like the rest of the book, is very personal (being compiled first-hand by participants rather than second-hand by historians) yet very technically and tactically interest for the CMAK (and CMBO) player - I can thoroughly recommend it. Sadly, Edward Wilson died in August this year, only a month after completing his book - my grandfather lives a leading member of the Regimental Old Comrades Association, having left the Regiment a major and squadron commander at the end of the war: Press on Regardless: The Story of the Fifth Royal Tank Regiment in World War Two (Edward Wilson) ISBN: 1-86227-217-4 Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1862272174/qid=1067512994/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_0_1/026-1455623-1850050 Best Ads
