pzgndr
FYI, GMT Games has announced the release of A World at War and is accepting pre-orders. Based on the award-winning Advanced Third Reich/Empire of the Rising Sun gaming system, A World at War is a grand strategy game which simulates the military, economic, political, diplomatic, research and production aspects of the Second World War. This is a boardgame - no computer version and no AI opponent. But for only $175, you can play a game with most of the detail and complexity you may want. A World at War and ADG's World in Flames are comparable in scale and scope, with the later being a bit more complicated. It's useful to keep games like these in perspective when playing Strategic Command. Yes, SC is simple by comparison but is in fact playable and enjoyable right now. Perhaps some future version of SC can adopt features from these other games to make it more historical, or more realistic, or more accurate, or whatever. However, keeping a computer game relatively simple is necessary for playability and decent AI programming, and those are important features also. Shaka of Carthage
$175? JFC!!! Is it me, or does that seem a little steep? The production costs for producing a boardgame are a lot less than a computer game. Is this pure greed? Ok... finished with my ranting. Mr B, do you have ADC? If so, once A World at War ships and is out there, would you be interested in a game?
