Friar Bellows
Well, it's been a long time since a game demo has pulled me away from God's plan (i.e. ravishing the delectable young... err.. never mind), so kudos is due to the brilliant Canadian-based designer of this game. I have a couple of questions about HQ units which I hope someone will be kind enough to answer: 1. I think I know what HQ units do (i.e. increase readiness, morale and supply of attached units). But how do you attach (or detach) specific units to (or from) them? Or is this done automatically by the game? 2. How do you determine what is an optimum (i.e. good) number of HQs to have? So far in the demo, I have not felt the need to buy one yet, but maybe I should have. Some notes: I managed to take Britain (0% difficulty, 0+ AI experience) but only on the last turn before the demo stops (April 18, 1941) and only when setting the US and USSR to neutral. It was devilishly satisfying seeing the computer announce that a new order had been established in Europe. On another occasion, I conquered Low Countries, Baltic States, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, and invaded Turkey before time ran out. That was my "conquer-as-many-countries-as-you-can" challenge. Probably could have included Vichy France, Spain and Portugal if I had tried. Silvercloud
An HQ commands up to 5 units I think, assigned automatically based on the closest 5.. best way is just to have an HQ for every 5 units you have... so everyone is supplied

So, if you played as the axis, then you just attacked your own allies In turn this means you loose ALL your allies (scares the begezus outta 'em and they won't join you: Im talking about Finland and Spain). Similiary, I find it healthier to just wait on Yoguslavia to join the allies, instead of attacking them, that by doing so pisses USA and USSR off abit (better to keep them out of the war for as long as possible). Hitting the Baltic States are a sure way to drag USSR into the war too. If u play your cards right, then you will still end up with complete Axis control over all these territories. Good luck ~Norse~
Norse
Also on the Low Countries, you can get them to join you by leaving NO MORE than 3 corps at the western-front for some time (go hit Sweeden and Norway or so instead). The Allies (France and Britain) will find your front to be very weak and vulnerable, and will hit the Low Countries to get to you. So the Low Countries are nations that can go either way, you just haveto play your cards right. If they join you though, then you can't sack their MPP's, but you will gain international prestige so USA and USSR will stay out of the war for even longer. ~Norse~
Friar Bellows
Norse, thanks for the tips. I know that some of those minor countries I conquered do automatically switch to the Axis side. I just wanted to see how many I could conquer myself! Last night I tried taking the USA. Took Boston and Portsmouth, came close to taking New York City. But time ran out in the demo. I'll have to buy the full game now!
