rexford
Equations found on Nathan Okun site referenced in Wesy post on Kelly ballistics inquiry contains improved equations for determining effective armor thickness when plates are in contact (two plates in contact have less resistance then single plate same thickness). Jumbo frontal armor effective rolled thicknesses are: mantlet-156mm effective (178 total thickness) glacis-93 effective (102 total thickness) 22mm reduction in mantlet thickness should make a difference to high potency German guns. Mantlet also involved cast armor deficiency relative to rolled armor. Spaced armor really loses resistance compared to single plate resistance. Two spaced 50mm plates have less resistance than a single 82mm plate, against uncapped rounds.
Dittohead
Keep up the good work Rexford. Now if we just had a complete summary of all the info you've provided.
