Xyphorus
Hundminen, You are not the only one having that problem with freezes. Indeed, I am also unable to play more than 2 or 3 turns without having the Beta demo freezing on me in the same conditions that you described in your post. I need to shut down the computer and start it again. All the drivers have been updated, and for 3 weeks, I have tried EVERYTHING to get it to work. It is just so frustrating! Anyway, I sincerely hope that the final version of CM will work on my machine, since I preordered it a long time ago For the record for Steve & Charles, here is my system: AMD K6 200MHZ 48MB memory 2.1 GB hard drive STB Velocity 128 3D (8MB)graphic card ES 1868 audio drive window 95 DirectX 6 audio & graphic card drivers updated Thank you for your time, Karl
Pirate Bill
I've got a mac with a 12MB voodoo2, and after getting the 3dfx drivers it works fine, cept that it's limited to 640x480 (It should be able to do 800x600, right? Fix for this?) There's a few bugs, though (these don't show up on a RevC iMac) 1. Numerous small artifacts, usually 1 pixel. Seem to be randomly colored. 2. Whenever text is displayed at the side of the screen with a command line (AKA Sherman 105m, visibility blocked), it goes totally nuts. The text is displayed as white-and-green horizontal lines across the screen, and everything goes incredibly slow. Once I move the mouse so the text is all on the screen (and the program finally registers it), everything goes back to normal.
Kevin Peltz
System: Win95 4.00.950a 200MMX Matrox G200SD PCI c/w 16 SDRAM 64 meg RAM Latest Matrox drivers used When I first got the demo, I was using older drivers, and everything ran fine, except that LOS lines, firing lines, and waypoints did not show up very well, as did the unit selection boxes and tracers. Everything was a sort of brown-grey colour. Switching to the new drivers gave me all the above in their proper colours, and the game runs fine. However, in zoomed out views, infantry figures show up as white, when they become only a few pixels in size. At some angles, regardless of zoom, the backpack portion of the figures can also turn white. Changing the angle often fixes this. The objective flags also exhibit this behaviour. Hundminen
AMD / 3dfx Users: Go to 3dfxgamers.com and go to FAQ section. They link there a utility that will enable write allocate on your BIOS. It's call setk6 or something. Anyway, you have to run it out of your windows DOS box (not autoexec), contrary to instructions supplied. Finally figured this, and haven't had a freeze-up since! Post a reply if you need more info. Hundminen
