Replacing Half-Track Gunner

Does Fionn have the option of replacing deceased HT machine-gunners with members of nearby infantry squads? Seems like that would be the best allocation of resources, and can't see any logical impediment to the reassignment.

Nope, once the gunner is gone the gun is unoccupied. In real life, however, one of the squad members already IN the half track might take over. On the other hand, if you were in an HT and the guy manning the MG just got his head blown off, would you be all that willing to jump up and man the gun? smile.gif Those shields aren't very thick and offer only head on protection (US HTs don't even have shields!).

The thing is that once the squad hops out the gun would be unoccupied once again (SOP was to keep the squad intact). The way HTs work in combat this would be most of the time. In other words, the HTs drop of their troops when the going gets tough, which is exactly when you would want the gunner around. So we figured having a passenger manning the gun wasn't a good use of our limited programming time since it wouldn't happen all that often in a game.

Interestingly enough, I have been watching how Fionn handles his HTs to see if this assumption is correct. So far it is wink.gif
