It's been a very, VERY long time since I played these missions but if you tell me which mission you're struggling with, it might jog my memory. I don't recall having many problems dealing with the combatants in the Khabour Trail but then, I usually didn't bother too much about preserving everything.

It's not a problem basically, just I don't know how to approach the 1st mission's situation, you have plenty of air and arty support, but collateral damage penalties to buildings, which prevents me from firing at targets inside buildings only with small arms fire which is highly ineffective at long ranges. There is this courtyard south of the main objective which sometimes has enemies inside, sometimes not, depends on AI plans I suppose, I approach it carefully to about 200 meters and theh don't spot anything inside these buildings for 20mins+ or get shot at, so I advance again carefully and when I get to about 50m I find out enemy is inside, theh open fire and I sustain casualties and when my teams from 100m+ fire bavk they suppress the enemy after a minute, but kill? Very rarely... So, clearing house by house is needed I guees. I'll try to, instead of spreading platoons, fire at every suspected house in the courtyard and move a squad house by house which will take too much time, but idk..

  2. Hi guys, has anyone lately played this campaign? I'm still learning the game, but the enemy is invincible in the buildings, 5.56x45mm NATO can't do anything to them from long ranges, even at 50m distance they struggle, also civ. density is very high so they are very good at hiding in these buildigns until you discover them, usually by sustaining a casualty or two. Also, there are collateral damage points to buildings, so did you utilise howitzers, helis and jets and how? I'm really trying to play cautiously, taking care of my soldiers and I want to really learn the different mechanics and how to approach different situations like this, so that's why I'm asking. It'd be a lot easier to just destroy everything with arty and air support and then just clean with inf. but I don't want to do that as it'd be a lot easier and it's not how this campaign is supposed to be played, I suppose. There's enemy in a building that's on the very war part of the map and it has enemies inside, but it's an avoid collateral damage building, the guy is probably enemy FO which is very dangerous to my soldiers, but I don't have any snipers to engage him from 700m+, I have C9s but they can't hit a thing on that range. This is not me complaining, just trying to figure out things, I know it's realistic for them to be that safe in buildings, just trying to figure out how to approach them.

Thanks in advance, guys, and I hope for any tips!

  3. Guys, I'm trying to dig deep into small arms, it never interested me, I'm becoming more interested in that. Just want to know do you utilise AK-74M and AK-74MS differently, except the range of course, I mean is there any other relevant difference between these 2 weapons except the range? I took these 2 weapons as an example because I'm currently playing as Syrians. Also, how much do optics make a difference in the game? I'm playing a red vs. red campaign and none of the sides have optics on their weapons, so what would be an effective range to spot something if the weather is perfect example without binos and optics in comparasion to NATO forces which have optics and maybe some other equipment attached to their weapons? Thanks.

P.S.: Does somebody own reskins for weapons? I don't want mods that swap one model with another.

What In the conflict ravaged former British Colony of Sierra Leone, on 25 August 2000, a R IRISH patrol was captured by the West Side Boys. The patrol members were held hostages in Gberi Bana North of the Rokel Creek. In response to the crisis, the UK launched Operation BARRAS deploying both D Squadron 22 SAS and A Company 1 PARA to recover the hostages and defeat the West Side Boys.

This scenario recreates A Company 1 PARA’s clearance of Magbeni on 10 September 2000 and is based on an account written by Major Lowe, the company commander in the British Army’s Tropical Operations Manual.

Above is a scenario set in Sierra Leone.

Nice one, I like that scenery vibe!

Totally agree.  My favorite Red vs Red campaign..  Very playable, can't recall any frustrations and great fun.  Would love to see it updated.

One big + also is that it's not coverting the usual topics of SF2 like Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq. Basically it takes us to a new continent where many wars have been fought, but little to none of them covered in a computer game, Sierra Leone, Boko Haram,...

Oh, thank you 👍 nice to hear...may be, one day I make another red vs red campaign...

    Regards

    Mr.Xi

I hope so! I'd really love to see French legion or generally French forces in Africa, Mali example or Wagner group in Africa, it wouldn't be red vs red and it'd certainly require modding, so I'm not sure if it's doable. But these are justy wishes. Best regards! ☺️

    Hi,

as the designer of this campaign I would be very interested in, if this stuff is still playable with SF 2 ? Any report is very appreciated 👍

When I read that Paper Tiger is redoing his former campaigns, I thought about doing the same with the "Zawiya Uprising".

At the moment I am in the middle of the work for the Red Thunder Battle Pack, but may be after about 35 single missions at the Eastfront I will

need a change of environment 😉

    Regards

    Mr.X

Playing it right now, one of the best campaigns I ever played, so much attention to detail, from windows on buildings to street rubble, to playability overall, good job!

Would you send me a dropbox of these files, so I can see what you have? I might use something from you, also I found somewhere that you were requesting a silhouette mod that features ranges for weapons, did you find it? Sorry for going off-topic.

Sorry, I saw just now that this is in SF1 forums... I am playing the SF2 version, btw.....

I use a hodgepodge of "Mord's Mixed combatants", "Syrian Realism mod", "unconventional", "ISIS fighters", "Talibans" etc.

From what I see on the news, the uncon forces feature a complete hodgepodge of what they wear as well.

Many years since I played it.  But, re the briefing etc. list what units are depicted in the game.  Then one can find the relevant mod.  Hopefully all works with CMSF2 engine.

Basically it's using Syrian and Unconventional units. I'm using Sahrani Liberation Army mod for the Syrians, but not entirely sure it depicts North African soldiers correctly, I just like their looks haha
