  1. “Dragons at War” by Dan Bolger. Oct, 1982 rotation at the NTC. Bolger was Capt. of B Co, 2-64 at the time and he describes the day-by-day of his units’ two week rotation. The make up of a Soviet MRR, and OPFOR’s role and methodology in representing it, are covered in fairly good detail.

Although not appropriate in time period or content regarding CMCW, another good book that he wrote was,”The Battle for Hunger Hill.” Lt Col Bolger describes two rotations at the JRTC, Ft Polk in 1994 and 1995 while he commanded 1-327 Infantry.

I have recently played the CMFI demo and I enjoyed so much.I think it will be my next move in the CM family(I played CMBN for a long time and I'm with FB right now).It has been said (some sort of a cliché)that playing with Italian troops is like playing an IWW era army but Italians had some modern and fine units like the airborne ones. One of the most famous was the Folgore Division which was destroyed in Tunisia but other units fought in Italy against the Allies.I have checked the game features but It looks like they are not in the game unfortunately.

I'm not quiet sure how to play with the Italians but It seems you are always in disadvantage fighting with them.Have you any tips?

On the other hand, the German LG 40 recoiless gun is a hell of a weapon.Very difficult to detect and deadly against troops and light vehicles.

Are there any good cold War army movies? Red Dawn doesn't count. And Hunt for Red October (one of my favorites) is Navy, of course. We need a good Red Storm Rising movie

“Stripes” with Bill Murray and John Candy? Other than that, I got nuthin, lol. Lots of nuclear holocaust, Vietnam War, and spy vs spy stuff. I think there might have been the ass end of a supposed M48 in “Full Metal Jacket”…

  4. Trailer mounted Vulcan = M167 VADS. Replaced by M1097 Avenger sometime around 1994.

I Agree, the Sgt York was a joke. But if I remember correctly, wasn't there a version of the Vulcan AA Gun mounted on a small carriage?? Something like what the Quad .50's had. I guess if that was added to this game it would probably be issued to the infantry battalions.

  5. Currently playing a QB as Canadians. Picked 3 each 2- gun sections of LG-1 105mm Howitzers for off-map support. Total rounds supplied were 210 HE and 60 WP. Two of the three sections have since fired all of their HE and now show EMPTY in the support queue. They should still have a total of 40 unused WP rounds, as I haven’t called up any smoke missions at all thus far. The two sections remain unselectable and inaccessible - I waited a couple of turns just to see if the status would change, but it hasn’t. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

  6. I tried to do my due diligence first and see if this has already been mentioned, but I didn’t note anything specific. I was playing a QB in SF2 yesterday, playing as Canadian Forces, and noticed that my sniper team’s C15 rifle (McMillan TAC-50) was shown using .338 Lapua ammo. As far as I know, the C15 fires the .50 cal BMG cartridge. The C14 Timberwolf, also in the Canadian game arsenal, can use .338 Lapua. The C15 was meant to have an additional anti-material capability that the BMG cartridge would definitely give to it. I haven’t been able to do any tests yet to see if it’s a case of using the right ammo, just named incorrectly, or if it was given the wrong ammo. Given how ballistics plays a major role in CM, I thought it worth mentioning. If this is the wrong place to bring up errata, then apologies in advance.
