Trust wikipedia to have a comprehensive list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_aid_to_Ukraine_during_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War

Many ukranians would be inexperienced on western weapons and with limited time to train set skill to Green?

Changes to Russian side I am unsure. I would think their military has not changed much. Increase number of infantry but decrese experience to green to reflect large number of Conscripts. Small number of Veteran units such as Wagner Group. Large amount of artillery.

Change scenarios to reflect nature of the war. Trench warfare. Urban fighting. Mechanised asaults. Artillery.

Add Ukranian Technicals made from Modified Pickup Trucks for light troop transport.

  2. It seems to be an issue with the new hardware of today.

    - Go to Computer /
    - Local disk C: or similar, varies upon computer. This is where your game files are saved. If you have trouble finding this, right click the launcher shortcut you have on your home screen and select 'open file location'. This will take you to the next step.
    - Program Files (x86) /
    - CMBB (your game files) /
    - Right click the launcher called 'Barbarossa to Berlin'  and select properties.

Paraphrasing - Computer / Local disk C: / Program Files (x86) / CMBB - right click CMBB and select properties.

Select compatibility, and tick the box for 'run this program in compatibility mode for:' Select the Windows XP (Service pack 3) option. Additionally tick the box below 'run this program as an administrator'.

Then, launch the game and once in a mission, alt-tab out of the game, and then alt-tab back in (this is minimizing the game, and then reopening it). I know this sounds weird but if you do this every time you enter a mission you wont suffer any issues with extremely low frame rates or similar issues, and it takes a few seconds to do.

    Good luck - xXmush.

Apologies to you people with a bit more knowledge about file directories and such. I made an easy to follow guide that people of all generations and level of PC knowledge can understand :). I would imagine quite a few people of all ages would enjoy the tactical masterpiece and historical recreation that is the Combat Mission games. I have loved them ever since I was a kid, and was really sad at first when these games didn't seem to run on newer operating systems.

The VERY biggest impediment is in getting building shapes to correspond to AI 'action squares' so infantry inside will act properly. Its a bit of a straight-jacket, actually. Only so much that can be done without 'breaking' movement through the buildings. Still, CMFI has its narrow Sicilian apartment blocks with small balconies, CMBN Holland module has its Dutch pattern buildings and even has a wind mill! So there is some wiggle-room.

MikeyD, how did you get balconies to appear on buildings, i cant figure it out! (Im using combat mission black sea editor but I believe they are closely related)

    Cheers for help in advance

  5. The Russians are fine when well played . Their infantry will still be better than what we see in-game in 2017.

I'm not looking to beef-up the Russians . I'm looking at realism and nice toys to play with.

Ohh and by the way xxmushmanxx, the US military budget is not  3.8 trillions but more like 800 billions ;) . the size is far from being more than the 5 next armies combined. Active US forces is 1.5 millions , Russia 800 000, china 2.3 millions.

Haha yeah, thought that seemed a little extreme. It was like 5 in the morning tho. Just looked it up then. 3.8 trillion is the US budget period, for everything. Yes your figures are a lot more accurate.

Russia's military budget is still drastically smaller than the US military's. Russia (2016 est.) - 90 billion USD. Their active personnel number 770,000 while the US number 1,300,000. Russia does have more reserve personnel - 2,000,000 against Americas - 850,000. But Russia only has more because it has mandatory military service at the age of 20 for 12 months, so their reserve personnel are largely basic militia and home guard. The US reserve personnel are largely still highly trained and well equipped.

  6. Just because all Russian soldiers may have the rig, does not mean they will have all the equipment available such as GPS, Laser systems, Long range radio, Night vision etc and be experienced enough to use it. The US military has a budget of 3.8 trillion dollars per year and is larger in personnel than the next 5 largest military's combined. They have had active military engagements constantly ever since the 2nd World War, having hundreds of thousands of combat experienced soldiers. they even had  a huge military direct conflict recently with both Gulf Wars. There's a reason the US military is superior....

I do see where you are coming from however. This equipment they are talking about is all very expensive and only the best of the Russian troops would most likely be equipped and trained in it all. Maybe in game some of the Russian special forces units deserve to have more advanced systems added. This would mean they would have a mix of old and new equipment and in my opinion be more realistic.

  8. Check out pp10 of the CM Engine Manual v3.01.pdf that came with the game:

    Buildings

<ctrl>left click on the roof to change the shape of the roof.

For the rubble check out the list of stock tags that are available on pp 143 of the CM Black Sea Manual

    Ok thanks, got it.

+ I ordered a download and CD so i haven't got my manual yet. Thanks for the info tho.

  9. Hey i am exploring the mission map editor in CM Black sea. im wondering how to choose whether a building has a flat roof or not and other building editiong tools. So far i have only been able to get buildings that have angled rooves, yet i have seen buildings with flat rooves and buildings that look like military baracks

Also it would be nice to know how to edit the damage on buildings, import custom textures on maps (such as in mission.August Morning where the makers changed the sand texture to what looks like rubbish and rubble.

    Any help is appreciated :)
