From my experience, I think Japan first only works if the Axis player gives you an opening. I've been playing the same opponent for a while, trying different things. Tried a very aggressive German strategy which worked great in ETO, but raised USA mobilization way too fast. Suddenly, the US was ready to DOW in Sept 1941 before my Japanese amphib was ready. Didnt help that I had played mediocre game in China. Allied player was quick to see the opening and things just fell apart for me in the Pacific.

Anyone up for a PBEM match of AoD? I have primarily been playing the AI and one freind of mine who is no longer available. I'm probably ranked low-intermediate. Can play either side or mirror match (my prefernce)--also prfer tournament rules (those trans-oceanic loops make for some weird, ahistorical play IMHO). Anyway, e-mail me at Baker3111@verizon.net.
