If CMSF 2 is announced soon I will literally jump around my house in excitement! Thanks for the mod suggestions, Buzz.

Yeah they do on their aircraft. Not 100% sure about tanks, I don't think modern armour really has much in the way of insignia these days.

AFAIK cmmods.greenasjade.net used to host CMSF mods in the past but when i try to accsess the CMSF section right now it shows me an "Application Offline for Maintenance" message. So my guess is it will come online again in the next few weeks.
Btw wich CMSF mods exists that arent at the Repository?
There have been a few. A bunch from this list because I don't know many mods off the top of my head.

Scipio's explosion/flame/smoke/muzzle flash mods
Chechen rebels uncon replacement
Muddywaterscombo mod
El_terrifico's Euro Syrian uniforms - mix and match to your liking, instructions are provided with readme. I personally used 5 different patterns for regulars and 2 patterns for reserves - gives soldiers a really personalized feel and looks great (MUST HAVE)
Gordon Molek's UAZ stripe
KLMK Spetsnaz for Syrian SF (there is another SF uniforms mod i cant recall the name of - i used the vest and helmet from it, looks great when mashed together with KLM mod)
Faces of Syria mod
Mord's death knells mod + no music mod
Eurobuildings + European foilage + Syrope_terrain mods, if you want temperate climate terrain

Am I right in understanding that the repository is the only place to download CMSF mods now?
Is there a readon cmmods.greenasjade.net doesn't host Shock Force mods but they host mods for the other CM games?
There are numerous references to mods on here that I can't find on the repository.
Sorry if this has been answered recently, I did try searching first.

Sounds like an interesting mod. Would you suggest the use of a mod manager to install these mods for easy disabling later if I want to play 'vanilla' Shock Force?
