  1. is there any chance that BF can provide us a list of the new naming conventions for all the mods made for previous versions?

    I have literally hundreds of mods (for each CM2 game) and it would be very helpful to know which are completely useless now and can be deleted, and which work ok and which need to be renamed in order to work.

    Just knowing which will never work and can be deleted or moved to an UNUSED MOD folder would be a great help.

    That's a very good question I think this question needs it own thread so that more people can be exposed to seeing it...ahem..Battle front devs or who ever is in the know about this stuff. There are lots of Mods out there that probably just need to be renamed and they will work again. We just need to know the new conventions. Heck I am no modder but I will give my try at renaming and re-posting files.

  2. I am currently trying to update my batch of CW uniform mods but I cannot figure out what the convention should be, it is not the same convention for CMBN that's for sure. I f somebody knows how they should be renamed for 2.0 I would be grateful. Thanks!

    I also if at all posssible, would like to know the naming convention for veh's yeah that may be stretching it.

  3. Is it just a naming thing or did the data change also

    Badger hooked me up on the uniforms. Its just a renaming convention for the those at least in CMBN. For CMFI I believe it is data because the CMBN uni do not work in CMFI even though they are named the same way. There is a 2.0 update for patched DIV uniforms in CMBN either at GAJ's site and also in the Rep.

    Okay here is what I have found to work...so far.

    1.Juju's Tweaked UI 2.0

    2 Mords Voices and his war ravaged American faces, I believe the German faces work also but I am trying out Aris German faces this time around.

    3 Ramblers wpns mod that tweaks the wpns to look better. Thank goodness for that the CMFI American wpns looked really bland.

    4 Mikes veh of war sound Mod.

    5. Back ground day Combat in the distance sounds cannot remeber who created that Mod all I have is the sound file.

    These are all the things I have found to work I will do more checking as I progress.

    I use a lot of various mod sites for the games I play. Repository could really use some work in so far as navigation when browsing mods IMO.

    Prefer and use GaJ's site far more often.

    Still wondering if you can use CMBN mods in CMFI? Also do you have a link to Gajs site?

  6. After playing and modding the crap out of my CMBN (D/L of mods that is) game I am now trying out CMFI and of course are looking to mod that also. Looking at the D/L center though I do not see a plethora of mods like CMBN. I was wondering are there any terrain mods out there like Aris does for CMBN? I do see his tree and leaf mod wich I grabbed and his German uniform mod. I do not see any American uniform mods unless I am mising something under the repository for CMFI. Can mods be used from CMBN in CMFI, Like EZ uniform mods? can Aris terrain mods be used in CMFI?

  7. This easiest way to think of this is to disregard the "us-helmet-m1" file numbers. It is better to to think of the Version_1 files as A, B, C, D, and E. What really matters is the version_2 file names; "smod_american_helmet-soldier" and "smod_american_helmet-soldier 2". In the end you will have only two (2) output / renamed files; the first without netting, the second with netting. Now look at A, B, C, D, and E. Decide which you want to rename "smod_american_helmet-soldier" then decide which of the remaining you want to rename "smod_american_helmet-soldier 2". You have five (5) choices but will only use two (2). After renaming the two (2) you want, disregard those remaining three (3) for your purposes.

    your renaming convention DOES work for the Airborne GIR units BTW, howver I have to switch them out like I would the normal I/D's to see them displayed. and I did figure out the helmets I now can for the 1st time of playing CMBN have patched uniforms and helmets...YAYY! I have been into this simm for about a half a month now. thanks for all your help!

  8. Great thanks! So far I have converted the 79th I/D. am working on the 325 GIR. However in that file there is musette-bag-shovel and boots and us gear do I have to update those also? What is the process?

    Also for the helmets you wrote solder? is it solder or soldier as far as the file name goes. I am assuming the spelling needs to be correct or the file will not work.

    Okay having some probs with the helmets I am working with EZ's 82nd and 101 with their accompanied GIR's in the 325 GIR folder there are 5 separate helmets. 2 are PATCHED netting the 3rd is PATCHED steel helmet and 1 is non patched steel helmet and finally another is Non Patched Net helmet. The Patched net helmets are 2.bmp and 5.bmp, the plain steel Patched helmet is .bmp, the non patched net helmet is 3.bmp and finally the plain steel helmet is 4.bmp. okay above you said the 3.bmp becomes a 2.bmp what about the 2.bmp I already have and the 5.bmp what do they become? I know the regular non netted PATCHED helmet becomes a smod but I am unsure of the other 3 files. Sorry if tis is confusing you because I am a little confused my self. Or are they ALL shifted down a number?

  9. I know this is an old thread but I have 2.01 CMBN and I cannot see ANY patches on the shoulders of the uniforms. I have in my Z folder 1 mod for 82nd and this mod for the 4th I/D I can see the patch displayed on the uniform for the BMP file but I am not seeing it in game. To make sure that there where no conflicts I even pulled all my mods out save for this 1 to check and still no dice. Is this an issue of the mod needing to be updated for 2.0 or is it something else?

  10. I find the pre-game set up quite tiresome if you have lots of units and not much space in the deployment zones. Sometimes the AI puts a first turn artillery stonk into the midst of a deployment zone even if it is out of sight, just to mix it up a bit. As a result I always do my best to place units out of sight on that first turn.

    What I would find incredibly useful is the ability to clear the map of all units and the select units for deployment onto the empty map from the drop down list. Perhaps even being able to place units off map to arrive in the first ten minutes of a scenario would be helpful. Otherwise you find yourself squashing a Battalion and a bit into a tiny piece of front line land, whereas in reality the assault troops tending to lager behind the front line and then attack through them.

    Thoughts?

    I REALLY like that drop down menu idea! Is there a way to hound the devs into putting that into a patch sometime in the future? I also find shifting troops around with limited space can be tiresome.

  11. Well keep in mind the difficulty settings do not change the games AI, it just makes the game more realistic. I usually play at elite. at lower difficulty settings the artillery comes in a lot quicker, but it also comes in quicker for the AI. (quicker as in unrealistically quick) in the scenario your describing, which is very tough, the AI also has target reference points, which allow artillery to come in even quicker and more accurate. so if you were playing at a low difficulty, in that situation, i could see it getting ugly really fast.

    I'd recommend moving up to veteran, warrior, or elite. Give it a shot, its not the huge difference it'd be in other games, it's more subtle and just really makes it more realistic.

    Thanks for the advice I do play on Warrior ATM. However I was kinda thinking there was TRP's invovled. Its just so Darn brutal all my tactical playing goes to hell when whole platoons are being vaporzied before you can even get halfway across the bridge. I beat the 1st mission pretty well on warrior and I guess I was getting a little cocky.P The second one is pretty humbling.:eek: I thought I would have been eased in more as a noob:D I think I will start over on Elite, try some quick battles for a while. Ohh btw what does playing on iron lvl do?
