  1. The thing is, if I click on the link from my email with my CMBN_v300_Upgrade_Setup.exe License key, I am directed to a 9.94GB install file and it says "Full version installer (PC)" but I'm still able to download the 3.10 vehicle pack and the Market Garden Expansion.

Selecting my original CMBN + Commonwealth bundle, I look at a 2GB installer, and the v200 Upgrade gives me a 522MB installer.

I'm not sure that the v300 is actually a full installer and even if it is, is it 3.0?  Or is it 3.11?

I've logged into my store account and even there, I can't find where to download a proper installer.

  2. Thanks for the great help, gentlemen!

I remember there being an email or newsletter being sent out about a new way to download CMBN but I cannot locate it.  I remember there being a single installer for CMBN + MG v3.0 or something of the sort.  How do I download CMBN now?  I got the original CMBN, the Market Garden expansion, the v3.0, and the v3.1 vehicles pack.

  3. I have both CMBN and CMBS, but I've never played the games past one or two missions after the tutorial. This is mainly because I don't feel like I know what I'm doing. Sure, I know what the various move types are and how they are different from each other, but things like LOS, artillery support, and scouting are lost on me. LOS is very awkward... an area may look like a good vantage point, but I can' really be sure until I drop down to ground level and have a look for myself. Artillery support.... light/medium/heavy, I don't appreciate the difference, I don't appreciate the inaccuracy, I don't appreciate the effect of arty... that is, until my men are the ones cowering in fear from it. Scouting... how do I spot somebody before he spots me? How come while advancing slowly forward, I get shot at and my guys don't even know where it's coming from? I can replay the action and find out where the general direction is, but I can't see who is shooting.

For some reason, I'd like to revisit the series again, but I don't know where to start. Firstly, do I want Normandy or do I want the modern toys? I feel like I have better understanding of the guns and tanks of WWII simply because of all the movies and games about that time and I feel like the modern theatre just makes things more complicated with drones and F-16/Apache support and whatnot. However, I do like playing with modern vehicles and tanks...

Which brings me to my second point... as much as I have fun with moving soldiers about, I'd really like to have more armored assets to play with. I've only really played with the tank that was in the tutorial mission (farmhouse), and that's it. I'd like to have a feel of what it's like to play with things like the StuG or the Panzer IV or the Sherman. Not straight up tank-vs-tank though; I'd like to play a believeable scenario with proper ground troop support.

Any thoughts, help, suggestions, and advice appreciated!

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks for the suggestions of FRAPS.  However, I would've preferred the fps counter on the lower corner of the display screen and FRAPS only displays on the extreme 4 corners.  I thought there was a way to do as Chris did but the "developer copy" makes sense.

  6. My CMBN experience is minimal, I would say less than 10 missions.  I'd like to play it but I just can't for very long.  I guess modern stuff holds my attention more.  Plus, like I said, it's been a while since I played CMBN so I cannot remember if there were such options on that game.

  7. Hello!

I've played CMBN before but have not played it for 1+ year.... but the release of CMBS has pulled me back into this genre.  So far, I am doing the tutorial missions and doing it slowly so that I absorb all that I can.  I always felt that I didn't know what I was doing in CMBN so I want a better gaming experience this time around.

A few questions to start with:

    1.  How do I disable edge scrolling?

    2.  Can I set the game to display as windowed-borderless?  That way, when switching between the game and the PDF manual (I play on a 3-screen Eyefinity setup + 4th touchscreen), the game does not have to minimize-to-taskbar.

    3.  Is there a way to display FPS?  On ChrisND's YT videos, there is a FPS counter on the lower right of the screen.

    4.  Please, please, PLEASE tell me there is a UI mod that displays all the Move/Combat/Special/Admin commands in one layout?  Having to switch constantly between the four is getting to be a pain, especially since there is a lot of unused real-estate on the lower border of the screen even in 1920x1080 res.

    5.  Are there keyboard shortcuts to the Play/Rewind/Next Turn buttons?

    6.  Is there a way to force the game to render on 1920x1080 res only?  Selecting the other options don't seem to do  anything, the game still spans all 3 screens no matter what option I select.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  8. Okay! Whew! Finally sorted out the fiasco of installing and activating this beast, now I need recommendations on two areas:

    1. Mods! What should I be looking at to add to my CMBN experience? I am particularly looking for those that make info-acquisition regarding units better. Increased eye candy is good, but stuff that helps with strategy and situational awareness is the main thing I'm after.

    2. Missions! What should I be sinking my teeth into? I'm particularly interested in campaign-types so I get a feeling of progression as well as caring for my particular unit. I loved the Band of Brothers series because I followed only one unit and I hated The Pacific series because it covered different units and I ended up getting confused and eventually not caring. While a stand-alone mission/scenario might be considered (especially if it's got a lot of tank-vs-tank action!), my preference for now is an easy-to-get-into campaign for a new player.

Please note that I have purchased everything CMBN-related so I should be able to tackle any mod/mission recommended.

Thanks in advance! Now I'm off to do (or re-do, but it's been such a long time that I might as well start over) the tutorial missions!

  9. Nope, nothing on restart.

I do think I've found the proper instructions though. On the CMBN Vehicle Pack Manual PDF, it explains things quite clearly on page 5. So as a reminder to myself should I need to reinstall things again in the future, here's what I've done after Step 8 above:

    9. Enter v3.0 Upgrade key

    10. Enter CMBN+Commonwealth Bundle key

    11. Enter Market Garden key

    12. Enter Vehicle Pack key

Here is what my start screen looks now:

    CMBNCMMGVehPack_zps1df8b075.png

I guess that means everything is installed and in order now, correct? It says v3.11 Game Engine 3 on the bottom and I guess the icons are CMBN, Commonwealth, Market Garden, and Vehicle Pack icons.

Damn, this game is complicated..... and I've not even played it yet!

Now to figure out which manual to print out.....

  10. Okay, I went ahead and installed the game in the following order:

    1. CMBN+Commonwealth Bundle

    2. Patch 1.11

    3. v2.0 Upgrade

    4. Market Garden

    5. Patch 2.12

    6. v3.0 Upgrade

    7. Vehicle Pack

    8. Patch 3.11

After installing the 3.11 patch, I launched the game and entered my v3.0 Upgrade License Key. It then showed me this picture:

So I have.... 3 copies of the game unlocked? Or do those three mean CMBN, Commonwealth, and Market Garden? Did my v3.0 key unlock all three for me?
