  1. This seems to be on par with infantry firing from firing ports. Some of that between-war theoretical tactical doctrine that's better on paper than in practice.

Not really - firing a SAM from a open hatch (like in the photo) can be achieved from a short halt when aircraft are in the sector. That's different to trying to use a firing port on an a moving vehicle.

  2. First off - CMBS is fantastic. Excellent effort!

    A question about precision rounds:

I have 18 HE 120mm mortar rounds remaining and 4 precision rounds. A shoot a short fire mission, expending all the HE rounds, AND the 4 remaining precision rounds. Is this correct behaviour (i.e duration of fires has priority, and the precision rounds are treated as a dumb round to achieve this), or is it a bug?

  3. What I'm really saying is the scenario has plenty of artillery available, but there is a real shortage of units able to call for fire. the dynamics have changed with the most recent software update since the scenario was written. Does it need rebalancing?

  4. I've been trying to thrash through Hill 1209 scenario. I've read that it's the toughest of the campaign, and have struggled until I identified a safe(ish) axis of advance.

I'm a bit concerned that a hard scenario is even harder since the changes to artillery spotting and FOs were made. One FO per target is a tough ask. I find myself wishing I had a few Javelins to through about!

  5. Help! I'm banging my head against the wall with this scenario!

Whether I try a direct attack over field (using arty to take out the two 88s first), or a flanking attack to the East, I just don't seem to be able to do better than fighting to a draw.

I've tried arty on harassment ROF from a single tube in an attempt to maximise the number of targets I can hit, but this approach seems to always run out of time. Smoke screens seem to get my units closer before being cut to pieces by enfilading fire. Breaking squads into smaller teams doesn't help much either.

    Any advice??
