  1. I've just bought this game on steam - Theater of war 2 Africa and Kursk with all DLC's. I really regret I didn't check it before buying it. Luckly I didn't have money for Korea which i wanted too. I have Intel Core 2 Duo 2.10GHz, 4 GB RAM, Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB, Windows 7 64bit. Yes, this computer is not Skynet but still... despite it's laptop it meets recommended sys. requirements but the game is completely unplayable. Cutting all graphic options only makes this game looks like crap but doesn't increase even one goddamn FPS. What the hell??

  2.

I think you might be getting at issues so lets see.  Infantry deploying smoke does take a long time in the game.  I think it reflects collecting the smoke grenades and some consideration by the squad leader about where to put the smoke.  I am sure a lively discussion could ensue.

Hmm... I think it simulates problems with one of soldiers zip pocket so he can't pull out the granade... trully, what an amazing level of simulation

  3. I'm confused. You just described, fairly accurately, the way things already work. Except that you mentioned only Modules, but there are also Packs that will soon be in the mix.

Not exactly. You've decided to divided it more in to separate families. Cut Battle for Bulge and Normandy into separate families. Or Eastern Front into four. I was talking about... hmm... call it "bigger" games

What packs? Did I miss something?

  4. As so many have said, Battlefront's pricing is very fair (and probably a bit too low, IMO)

Please don't say that, they are listening ;P

Not to worry, there are some urban centric improvements on the way for you guys very soon. Some will be in Market Garden, others will be in the not-too-distant-future Upgrade v3.0.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly. So there are going to be some engine improvements(urban) in module or not?

While I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us, I think it's better to leave the game development and game marketing decisions to those who do it for a living.

So I would like to ask(ask, not say how I would better make this businesses than you) one thing because actually last time when i was talking about this "debate" went in different way speaking gently :). What is actually the problem with this approach. We would have for example one core game for each different theater. West front, Italian and Eastern. Every player than can actually expand this base game for a new units, different part of the front, different operations and time periods they want with modules. They can of course buy upgrades to make their game better. At the beginning with module policy i thought it would actually look like this. It's very comfortable and flexible for user than actually buying new game for a single operation like Bulge. And this doesn't necessary mean lowering your income because it still depends from module and upgrades policy(how many and in what form you will release them). And big majority of community would buy all of them anyway and maybe those old players who resign would be more satisfied(maybe or maybe not...) . So what are actually drawbacks of this?

  5. There is an old saying... it takes two to tango. You keep expressing an opinion that almost nobody agrees with. It's also an opinion that I have said, very directly, is never going to influence our pricing or development plans. Yet you voluntarily continue to voice your opinion and then defend it when it's clear, yet again, that you're not going to get anywhere with it. And then you get upset that you're being challenged and dismissed, in the process saying that everybody else is at fault for this outcome and you played no part in it.

So if you're asking if I think your behavior is logical... no, I do not :D

    Steve

that's weird. I have dual personality or something ;P

    just to clear some things

    1. I'm not upset. It is not me. Some other guys have big problem with it but I understand you will not stand against them ;P

    2. Actually I'm not expressing my opinions all the time. At least I don't think so. You see, when someone is quoiting me or referring to me when I see I it I respond. Just like you. I'm quoiting you and asking something you reply.

i finished in a previous thread after just few posts.(still as I see we didn't understand each other but this is how it must be probably ;) ) But there were some new people asking same questions quoting me and accusing for something over and over. Yes i could ignore it but I didn't, true but still you think more fault have person who reply not persons who initiate it?

  6. Is it logical for you to be tired of something yet return to it all the time and blame for it other?

Actually no but being rude for person B and then pointing out him for bad manners is a little weird for me.

"Rude" is often in the eye of the beholder more than it is actual fact. I don't think you're being rude, but I do think you're purposefully continuing something which has no value to anybody. And that sort of behavior does start to get on people's nerves after awhile.

    Steve

  7. You asked where someone had said that. I just pointed out where.

Why are you being so aggressive?

Make love, not war. (except virtual war in the game of course)

I don't wanted to be aggressive and not everything i wrote in that post was actually referring to you(but it could look like that).

My point is this: People are writing here how they like game/module/whatever and why they like it. Thay say "i like this, this and this" And there is no problem with that. Than come person x who say "but i don't like this or this" or "I hoped it will look different " or it's not worth the money" whatever. And then all starts. 10 people will respond and teach him. They will point to him that's he is irrational, stupid, annoying, rude( and that's a hypocrisy) , that he doesn't know what he is talking or wants something for free etc. They will make next x pages of the topic with tons of post asking the same questions or saying same things over and over even when the "discussion" was in fact finished some time ago and still they would blame him for trolling and making all of that mess. So why is that?

  8. Ok that's one guy. He wrote that. Who cares. He said that and you said that module is cool. So what's the problem? he think different you think different. You will buy he will not. You wrote why you will buy he wrote why he won't... And still this is one person and he is not one of those annoying Poles constantly irritating other with some problems . Waclaw said something different and I didn't comment this module at all(i like Challenger :D). And there is guy like Aragorn who thinks that he is too ****ing awesome to say what is actually he's problem and who will not waste his precious time but still is digging more and provoking and blame other for being constantly annoying

  9. If you don't want to buy OMG then don't. I didn't buy CMFI because only I knew I wouldn't have time to play it, not because I didn't feel it was worth the money. So please don't complain that OMG isn't worth $35 because, it is. They've packed way more into it than I though they would.

Just curious. Who actually said something like that here? I didn't see anybody

Oh... and Aragorn btw, why did you removed your previous post? I was wondering what was your problem this time. Maybe too much smoking or something

  10. The consistent dissenters Waclaw and Beelzebub are polish players.

... and BLSTK and that guy who likes cats both are from US as I remeber... hmm so it does mean something?

Second, since you mention me- about my consistent dissent. It was second time i have involved in quarrel here so it's not so consistent. And i don't feel it was me to start all that flame. In fact i have agreed that in some statement that I was WRONG but still people where quoting me and asking same question and provoking to continue that mess still you accusing me for that constant problems??

look at this now. Who is starting to have problems? Waclaw comment that list of new units that some guy quoted is not so completely new but he even said that he likes this module. Still some people here have problem with that. Few guys can't wait to see some game improvements (for what I think we are all waiting quite long time) more than new units and maps and write their expectations than some other guy came and say go away, back to your polish forum or somewhere cause we are tried of you. C'mon whats your problem with this? If you think that these complains are senseless don't reply instead of digging it more and then saying that you are tried of them...

  11. I believe heavy use of stimulants was a factor in the rapid advances in the West at the begining of the war and Eastern Front.

I really doubt that germans use more stimulants then any other nations. Second I doubt that it could have such huge effect. Amphetamine don't change soldiers into Ubersoldatz and it has it's own drawbacks and side effects like possible psychosis specially in case of men under great fatigue and stress. Also "hangovers" that would make those Ubersoldats useless for most of a day ;) Dehydration could be big problem too in war circumstances

  12. Also, no discussion about drugs and the military is complete without this video of LSD being tested on British troops:

    :D

"The efficiency of the rocket launcher team was also very impaired." Such a British thing to say when you see two men on acid trying to aim a recoilless rifle.

HAaha lol It's probably best way to finish the war :)

  13. I recall reading that German troops were often issued with Speed. I don't recall the source, but it was in the context of a discussion of war crimes.

I always thought that using amphetamines during WWII was common for every side. Specially pilots where "upgraded" but it was common for regular troops too. I can't point sources, I'm not historian and I don't remember everything. However, considering that MG module is on top right now i suggest to read(or read once more) A bridge too far book. As I remember C.Ryan describe it several times(for allied and German soldiers) especially there is episode at Arnhem bridge where British soldiers where given some amphetamine pills. This had some disastrous effect on exhausted and sleepy soldiers. Some get euphoric, other get psychosis and where hallucinating. Maybe BF could give such staff to MG module :)

I think that experimenting and using stimulants that should give boost and eliminate hunger for soldiers is as old as armies and wars(coca leafs and coffeine where used in history as I know). I quite sure that some forms of stimulants are used today. Probably not amphetamines because of it's side effects but something new(maybe valkyr lol :)). There is only one ting worse than find yourself in amphetamine's hangover. To find yourself with amphetamine hangover in a middle of war ;P

  14. By default the tank gun will be pointed in the middle of the arc. However soldiers and tank crews also spot, aim and fire at things that they have not even told you about yet. Often when you see tank aim a few moments later a spotted unit appears in that direction. Sometimes they never fully spot it and nothing is reported and the gun goes back to the centre of the covered arc.

But the AI is not too smart and this is unrealistic too :) It was my churchill who had duel with panther. In my turn i withdrawn him few meters backward to draw panther into crossfire. So the crew knew that he is there but they were more interested with some infantry in the woods few hundreds meters away. I think if we have power to force tank's crew to open/close hatches or turn their turret we should have the "power" to preciously point that turret. It can be sometimes broken but it's game. Or maybe there is a way to teach ai to better judge such situations i don't know

<shift> key cover arc is there - it creates circular covered arc. I forget what it did in CM1.

there was second thing that is not available now. It worked just like shif key now but in insted of 360 degree angle it was making 180 degree. It was very simple and usufull when for example you where expecting enemy somewhere more to the left, and wanted to turn turret there but the terrain was mostly open so you wanted to cover as much as possible. You can do that without it but it's just like with movable way points, life is much easier with them :)

  15. Your tank on Hunt stops when he sees enemy infantry at 500m not because the enemy infantry might be a threat but because where there is enemy infantry there might be enemy armor or AT guns.

So i think he should stop when he would be sure that this could be tank or AT guns. IMO during battle usually there was lot of enemy infantry running there and back and tanks where not stopping for a whole minute because they saw some suspicious guy.

Stopping to fire for tanks as been 'abstracted', I guess you'd say. Inserting stop-fire-resume animation sequences would be a bear so for slow moving tanks hit probability has been upped slightly to account for (unseen) braking to a halt then resuming.

Does it really work that way? I had sherman moving on slow and he drastically missed two times the panthers back from something like 50 m. Panther that was stopped hit him with first shot. Also i saw that while he was moving he wasn't be able to point his gun at panther all the time. He fired then turned he's turret to the right. Than he made correction, fired and once again turned the turret.

And I'm just curios what's the problem in making animation for halting tank and resuming?

I also noticed that sometimes while using cover arc the turret is pointing somewhere random within that arc. As I remember in Cmx1 turret was pointing in the center of arc. Sometimes i want to point the gun on exact position of known threat but despite that tank's crew is aiming somwhere else where they for example saw once infantry few minutes earlier

Also miss shift key with cover arc from CMx1. It's not necessary but it was a lot of easier and faster to make cover arc at 180 degree that would cover big portion or even whole map.

  16. Ouch, i could feel the concussion from that one. Your move beelzeboss, but you will probably fall short like polish calvery charging german tanks.

No, i will not make any. You demand good manner but you have none. You can now go **** yourself or maybe your cats whatever you prefer.

btw there wasn't any polish cavalry charging German tanks but you probably to stupid yankee to know that

I wanted to end this discussion. I've admited to Steve that my judgment was to early but some are to stupid to read

If flaming people on the internet makes you two feel big and strong, go for it.

  17. Steve said that we don't have full information about module, info in "The start of actual news" is not complete and my judgment is not justify, so ok, i have to wait and see apparently there is something more.

    This convinced me.

No we are not continuing this. It is you(plural)It has been explained! many posts before. So why than people are over and over scavenging selectively previous quotes and are asking same questions and at the same time want us to be quiet until module would be released?

have suggested that anyone who does not share those anxieties is some kind of blind and censorious fool

Yes, it was probably mostly me- but after suggestion that people that are unhappy of this how it's appear the module will look like(eg. it will have lover quality than previous modules) are like choldern or trolls who are never happy and want more for nothing. You see it works in two ways. Also there was other thing. some people were arguing that content of that list is actually good for them for 35$ module. They can think like that, if they want and yes I called them blind or funboys I don't remember, that's true but after they said that my complains are irrational, stupid and I'm not appreciative of BFs hard work. If i don't like it I should don't buy it and go away. In fact, later even Steve said that this list is not worth 35$, if the MG module would only look like this it would cost less but they are working on something more to make it worth those 35$ So actually after this never ending story I think that it is you who don't have "foggiest idea" what is talking about

  18. heh... i thought that this discussion was finished some time ago but ok funny how people likes to misunderstand things

I just think it's funny that every now and then, some guy comes on the forums and thinks they know a better business model than the companies that are already quite successful are currently using.

No, i never said that just like I never said that I know better how Battlefront should sell their games. I said few thoughts and opinions and I've explained that few times before. About Matrix I even admit that they are probably doing well. However I suggest that keeping so high prices(yes, much, much higher than battlefronts ) in my opinion can have very negative effects in form of self-constricting this market which is a vicious circle. So hard to understand or what?

How can you possibly say they don't have good ideas??? Every module released so far has been well worth the money - new units, new OOBs, new scenarios, new campaigns and even some improvements. You do understand that all of this takes development time and that's what you're really paying for?

Because i wasn't talking about previous modules but about those damn list which i compared to those previous modules. And i'm happy of previous modules but was disappointed of informations about MG, is it clear?

Are you serious? No pressure from the community??? This has to be one of the most eagerly awaited modules since CMBN was released. It's an extremely popular

yeah... you mean, "Yupiiii", "awesome" :)

And how can you say anything about the eastern front Combat Mission when you don't know a damn thing about them? It's complete conjecture.

But we know that they are planning four separate EF games with separate modules each. I think that one(or two) core game with modules would be better and more comfortable than than. That's my opinion just different than "super awesome" battlefront will do what they want as always

OK, that quote right there tells me two things: 1) you only consider units and map features as "good ideas" 2) you have no idea what goes into developing each module. You've just basically insulted every scenario and campaign designer that put in countless hours of development, every person that's worked on improving the code, every person that's put in countless hours doing historical and OOB research.

Jesus... even Steve said as I remeber that this is not worth 35$ and there will be more. Even Steve said that if this module would in the end look like on those damn list it would cost less, but they are doing something more, that as he said will be worth 35$. So what you are still trying to explain me?

  19. Matrix has a near lock on more traditional wargames, this is true. But they have no one product that directly competes with Combat Mission. They have tried several times to do this, but failed. In fact I remember the creator of Matrix saying in 2000 that he was going to make a "CM killer". 13 years later and it's not happened. Why do you suppose that is?

    Steve

They are trying this now :D

The Bloody First(Close Combat) is planned for release next year and will use the new 3D engine.
