Check out my CMSF tutorials. First one is of a rifle company assaulting a town. Very applicable to your discussion here. There are supporting videos on Youtube.

I have to say scout your blog site is excellent particularly the way you plan out the mission one step at a time. This has really helped my game as I tended to lose focus half way through missions, having a plan to structure attacks around really helps.

The Russian squads seem a little short of ammo particularly with all those smg's. Sorry if this has been pointed out already.

Cool I'll look forward to that, the Platoon/Company level is where I really tend to struggle. The campaigns often feel like you're only one bungled platoon assault away from defeat.

If they have a few SMG's or carbines they can make a good close assault team as well, although I typical use them as an extra set of eyes.

In campaigns the squad often seems to lose the MG for the next mission if the gunner is a casualty even when you successfully buddy aid and recover it in the current mission. Not sure if this is because the gunner has specialist training? I think I'd prefer to let an untrained trooper have a bash with it anyway
