The black areas on PzH 2000 turret above appears to be anti-cluster munitions matting, sheets with long rubber spikes on it. I imagine a submunition hitting the soft mat would cushion the impact to the point where the fuse is not triggered. At least that's how I imagine how it works.

@MikeyD Interesting assumption! Do you have any further reason to believe these are to counter submunitions? Could this not simply be a doormat to keep the interior clean?

  2. Well,  I think with MRSI in game you would get a bigger bang for the buck. With the points cost of a single unit you would have 5 tubes at once. The main advantage of mrsi is the simultaneous impact part. And this would be reflected by game mechanics, right? It would negate the effect of troops taking cover.

By the way does anyone know how many guns can impact simultaneously in the game atm?

  3. I was just wondering if there was any gun in the game capable of MRSI (multiple rounds, simultaneous impact). It would just add another notch to the deadliness. I mean wouldn't it be impressive to have let's say 10 rounds from 2 tubes hitting simultaneously?

  4. Had an instance where a single member of a 6 men german HMG-team was "dragged" by a passing stug 500m across the map. At least it appeared that the stug played a role in it. Though it may have been kind of a pathfinding error on behalf of the soldier since the stug passed on the opposite side of the MG-teams bocage cover.

As a result, the MG floating icon is now offset by a hundred meters.

Up to this point this didn't appear as tragic to me as the MG kept firing and I counted it as the loss of one team member.

But now this guy came to in the middle of a field 500m away from the rest of the team. He now starts "shifting position" by crawling all the way back. In the consequence he is wearing the whole team out, which now after 100m of crawling is "tired", although they are stationary and unsuppressed.

Does anyone have a remedy? Has anyone had a similar experience?

  5. Google translation is crap here - as often. "les pièces de la procédure préalable" means "the parts (meaning all not some) of the pre-able procedure" which is the procedure by the juge d'instruction where information is ...

Thank you for settling this matter. I wanted to oppose Steiner on his revisionist views myself but could never have managed to do so as unagitated and factual as you did.

  6. Now that I think of it, one of the few times I have immobilized a tank in dry conditions, it was on the open ground adjacent to a road. Coincidence?

Thats what happened to me with a greyhound during the "labyrinth"-mission of the Road to Montebourg campaign. It was immobilized while touching the grass next to the road during an imperfectly plotted MOVE-order.

Since I am not the only one to experience it, there seems to be some issue with the transition from road tiles to neighbouring terrain.

Also, it doesn't seem right that a 6x6 vehicule with presumably half its wheels stuck in soft but level ground and the other 3 still on the road wouldn't be able to pull free.

  7. If I remember correctly this study (called "Fighting Power") by Israeli historian

Martin van Crefeld, he concludes that compared to the US Army the German wehrmacht at the time was more effective especially due its objective focused command structure, called "Auftragstaktik" (as has been mentioned before in this thread). This was in contrast to a stiff and bureaucratical style of leadership on the US side.

Another issue that is being raised, is the duration of the training the soldiers received. In case of the Germans the training began essentially at childs age during Hitlerjugend and earlier with games deliberately designed to train soldier skills like orientation/map-navigation, hide and seek, capture the flag and even grenade tossing.
