The surving crewman wasn't ejected from the turret, here is footage of a tanker being blown out of a turret -

I normally have patience like that of a buddhist monk, but the wait for info is killing me.

Obviously I don't need to explain how rare tank vs tank combat footage is so I figured you guys would be interested in viewing this video that was filmed recently near Aleppo -

I remember this mission, I only played it once and got my ass seriously whooped. I might try it again.

Any news about CMSF2? I hope it hasn't been cancelled because it's the game I'm most interested in playing.
-
I wish I found this thread before starting the mission. Tried moving down the dirt road on the right flank before any reinforcements arrived and my 2 lead vehicles were promptly obliterated. Restarted the mission and quickly tried to race across the rough ground on the left flank and was caught in devastating crossfire coming from the trees and somewhere on the far right. I'll retry this mission again now that I have read all your helpfull comments.

The Israelis never solved the problem in the last Lebanon War.
I think this question is at the core of playing CMSF.
And if there were an infallible solution, the game would no longer be interesting.
Totally agree.
Found an interesting publication about Hezbollah using Kornet ATGM's against Israeli armour during the 2006 war -

I'm totally frustrated trying to get something useful out of Marine LAV-AT units. Even when place in hidden ambush positions, they invariably get wasted by t-72s before they get off a shot.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a known issue with CMSF???
When playing RT I position LAV-AT units behind solid cover like a hill or a building or a wall and use my infantry to spot the enemy, then I combine a 'fast' and a 'reverse' waypoint with a 'target arc' so that the LAV-AT quickly pops out of cover, hits the enemy, then reverses back behind solid cover before the enemy has time to react.
-
I play RT but I pause the game far too often, everytime I hear a distant explosion or burst of gunfire I act like mother hen and quickly hit pause to check the condition of all my troops. I wish WEGO could be played in 20 second bursts, a minute seems way too long in my opinion.

Personally, I think the best approach is to set yourself your own win parameters, and try and attain that and not worry too much about what the system thinks.
I think that is good advice Erwin. I prefer challenging scenarios where my opponent has the clear advantage, but one also has to keep in mind that in the real world plans and objectives are not a set in stone, they often change as the battle develops.
In reality if a company commander is incurring unacceptable losses because it turns out that the enemy has a stronger force than expected higher command will often call off the attack and allocate assets/reinforcements required to complete the mission with minimal losses.
I try my best to complete all objectives set out by the scenario designer but if my planning results in an unjustifiable amount of friendly casualties then I quit the scenario (Battalion Commanders orders) and accept that I have met my match, or, most usually, rethink my tactics and try again.

Thanks for posting the screenshots snake eye, it's always helpful to see how you guys employ tactics.

I'm really looking forward to getting the Nato module, I has a quick look at the demo mission and it looked very interesting.

I'm dying to download the videos but need to wait until the 25th for my connection speed to be reset - so frustrating.

I have posted my analysis and plan for the Cain and Abel Scenario on my blog site.
Awesome blog site. I'm getting torn to peices in the USMC campaign (skill level set to Elite) so your tutorials are much appreciated.

Now that you've purchased CMSF, IMMEDIATELY purchase the next 3 add-on modules; Marines, British, and NATO.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Santa will be bringing me the British and Nato modules as a Christmas gift.

That's great! Welcome aboard! Make sure you patch the game up to the latest version (You will be 1.10. So get the 1.21 patch, then the 1.30 patch, then the 1.31 patch, I believe).
Thanks for the tip, I'll download the patches soon as my internet connection is reset to high speed.
Also, when your internet speed is better, check out tyrspawns excellent video walkthroughs.Looking forward to watching them. I'm loving all the information about military tactics that can be found on this forum.

DaveDash, I accidently stumbled upon one of your video AAR's on Youtube last weekend and immediately purchased a copy of Combat Mission Shock Force (with the Marines module). If it weren't for your excellent video I wouldn't have even known about this marvelous game.
Unfortunately my internet speed is running frustratingly slow at the moment so I'm unable to view all your other videos but soon as my speed is reset I will be checking them out.
Thanks for posting your videos and please continue to make more. Cheers.

Learnt a lot from this thread in a short time. Thanks for all the helpful info.

Your right Sergei, when played in slo-mo he can be seen rising out of the turret inside that huge jet of flame, as he steps onto the engine cover he immediately somersaults onto the ground.
There has been some truly incredible combat footage of this war posted online, I can't recall any other conflict where I have seen so much footage of armour in action.
