  1. Now that point about the physics part I find interesting. Knowing nothing about APOS, I find myself wondering how accurate the meaningful (read: not eye candy) physics portion of that game is. Do they account for all the factors that CNBM does? 3D slope effects, armor type, shell type, velocity (shatter gap anyone?), etc, etc. All the stuff that causes me to like CMBN.

Look at this (excuse me for the bad quality - there are different kinds of arrows with description on the tank, that you can see after the battle):

Every hit is documented, you know precisely what effect it has.

For every weapon you have a hit table that you can check in the battle (excuse the russian language):

Maybe the best thing for me is this, that Graviteam are incessantly improving the game, and those are often big improvements. For example, they increased significantly the possible force size for the next patch:

    attachment.php?attachmentid=146504&d=1323521868

Have a look at this site for all the discussion about improvements:

Now, there is also a bad thing - the english version is secondary to the russian version, and the patches, addons etc. first go to the russian version. There is also not enough documentation for the english version. So I personally play the russian version, and some other persons which don't know russian also play this version.

And the last thing that I forgot - CMBN is very good too, I like it very much, the graphics is very nice, especially with modded models. I'm happy to see both games evolve.

  2. If it's so good why you hanging out here?

I was checking what's new on battlefront forum - besides, answering in such a fanboy-ridden place is fun :) Especially when such statements are made:

Cmbn isn't perfect, but there is no better alternative on the planet!

Well, there is an alternative and I'm bringing it to your attention, as a fanboy to fanboy :)

  3. The engine is terrific, it even has a few things CM does not - illumination flares; unit-formations; headlights; using your tanks to shunt wrecks outta the way etc.

It's problem is that there is no MP, and the AI is absolutely God-awful; it takes a battle or two, then you realize there is unlikely to be any reasonably accurate tactical developments and un-install. Perhaps that's why their forum is a ghost-town, if no-one is playing, there isn't anyone to complain :D

"God-awful" AI in Achtung Panzer Operation Star? I don't know what games from the future are you playing, but AI in this game is one of the best of it's kind, it actually rewards the lack of multiplayer (and the work on MP in Achtung Panzer is ongoing! - see the lates patch to Operation Star, which will be released in english sooner or later). So arm yourself in humility, take a russian dictionary, find & buy AP OS, patch it to latest version and come back here with apologies ;)

And the truth is - this game (AP) has very shi*** promotion, not everyone knows about it, and I hope that this will change, because it's pure joy for old CM fan.

  4. I tried to play the demo, but my mouse cursor jumps like a rabbit. The mouse lag is totally unbearable and I cannot play this game. My PC is: Athlon XP 2,4; Geforce 7600GS; 258.96 nvidia driver on Windows XP.

Second thing - is there a way to disable this stupid music (and background-sound in menu) when loading the mission? I really hated it already in the Shock Force, had to turn off the speakers when loading... Cant you people add a simple option - no stupid rubbish music? No music at all? Is this so hard?
