  1. So - I've been told that multiplayer by email works well with this game.

1 - Is it possible to multiplay with 3 or 4 players? If so - can a nation switch sides mid-war?

I know this not rational but - I have always hated the isometric perspective with tiny little soldiers view for serious war games. (Forgive me - I'm old and started with Avalon Hill cardboard.)

2 - Is there any way - a mod perhaps to switch to a top-down nato counter type of view?

    Thanks.

  3. What I see showing is the squad leader's name - the soldiers within his squad appear to be nameless UNLESS the squad leader gets killed and then I guess we would find out who ppicks up his whistle.

My question was - can you edit the squad leaders names anywhere to make the scenareo more personal or easy to remember or more historically accurate if you are recreating and actual scirmish?

OR do all scenareso just pick names randomly from the long list of alphabetic last names?

    Thanks.

  4. I'm commited to getting into this game but still get lost and frustrated when trying to zoom close to a unit to see how it is positioned. Right now I use left click/drag screen right click/rotate screen and mouse wheel/zoom.

I realized that part of my frustration is simply that I'm so used to double clicking on a unit in Total War which automatically puts you conveniently above and behind and close to - the clicked on unit.

I can't find and so I assume there is no suck camera function in CMSF...

  5. My main obstacle is camera control - any way to slow down the movenment? I can't keep the whole battfield from shifting too far and can't zoom in on a unit. Any way to do that without fishing around and around?

2nd - how do you turn off the icons and where is that in the manual?

    - finally - I've never owned a game where I didn't turn off or mod the music - any way to do that?

    Much thanks.

  6. I've been watching this series for a while as it developed but I have a few more questions before I whip out my CC...

    - is it possible to remove the blue and red icons that hover over the troops (either in-game or by mod)?

    - is multiplayer for 2 or is it possible to have 3 or 4? Either way can you co-op?

    - what are the best fan-sites to check out mods?

    - how advanced are the earlier Combat Missions compared with Shock force?

    Much thanks for any answers...

  7. I'm trying the demo for this but unless I'm missing something - the only way I can tell if i lose men is to check the unit status after each phase and see if anyone is missing. Is that the way it is or is there a more dynamic way of tracking hits and losses?
