  1. I'm 51, and will be 52 later this week but I have no problems playing in RT. This seems to be an issue that some folks feel very passionately about. Playing in RT is not about reflexes or twitching. I only PAUSE the game when I receive reinforcements, am calling in an artilllery or air strike or when I have accomplished my mission on one side of the battlefield and move over to get a second group going. You can certainly abuse RT and pause the game every few seconds to micro-manage every detail but that's basically playing WEGO where you determine the length of the turn.

I would like to play WEGO but it just takes too damned long to play anything after you have grown accustomed to the pace of a RT mission. I can play an hour-long mission in less than an hour and a half in most cases. That's more fun than replaying for me at least.

Ditto I'm 45 and RT is the way to go. Who said RT was a clickfest obviously has not really played CM in RT.

  2. It may be realistic that once any tank takes a few hits it's really out of action due to non-penetrative damage, but I'm finding it no fun whatsoever.

It's very hard to have an enthralling tank battle when its number of hits taken rather than armour strength and gun penetration that determines the outcome. My experience at the moment is that irrespective of the armour of a tank, if you let it get hit, at all, by another tank more than once or twice, it will take a critical hit on some subsystem, and then it's effectively out of action. There are so many opportunities: tracks, weapon control, optics...

As I say, this may be realistic, but right now it's taking some "getting used to" (a euphamism for "geez, this is no fun, I hope I get past it").

I wish I was still in contact with a gentleman by the name of "Sabot" I remember him telling me stories of million dollar equipment on his M1A1 tank being disabled by small arms fire and RPG's and the noise inside the hull being unbearable at times.

  3. Though I agree fully with your statement, I do not agree that Pbem (turn based) is very realistic. IMHO to get the real feeling of mayhem and carnage, RT is the way to go. It would be nice if a battle in real life could be paused and we all took a smoke break and planned our next move like a chess match. I am 45 and love the option of pbem w/o a clickfest but for a true grog, (which I am not) I would have thought that RT would have been the preference.

  4. I got credited with being a beta tester (didnt actually sign an NDA) but did test numerous patches and maps for EYSA. I think EYSA took on a heavy load and did not quite live up to expectations as being a 3dcc type of game. I personally loved the game for MP only, that to me was where the game shined. I can't help but look back at "EYSA" and smile every time I fire up CMBN. I think EY would like this game.
