I bet that's it. Now that I notice, they both installed into the standard "Program Files" folder, which Vista restricts write access to. I'll move the install out of there and see if that takes care of it.
Thanks everyone!

I have a "CMAK" and a "CMBB" folder in Program Files. Neither of them have a "Saved Games" folder, but I'm going to create one and see if that does anything. I have the CD version of both games.

This is really strange. I can't find the saved game files anywhere on the computer. What should the name of the Saved Game folder be?

I have 111 saved games in my saved folder in CMAK. To access them I press the New Battle button and they all appear there in the list along with the regular scenarios.
Is there a separate saved game folder? Maybe that's the problem. I only see:
BMP
OpenPlay Modules
Quick Battle Maps
Scenarios
WAV
This is on Vista btw.

I have checked all of the folders I know to check and can't find a place for saved games. Where are they stored?

I just started playing again, but it's been a while. I've saved a game in progress. But when I go back into CMAK, I can't find anywhere to load it. It isn't listed among the scenarios and I can't find it anywhere else. I saved it with the unique name "SAVE1". I'm probably overlooking something obvious. Can anyone help?
How do I load a saved game?

Just to update. That did, indeed, fix the problem.
Thanks again!
