Almost correct, but not quite. Two points:
- One thing often missed in MBA classes is the long-term aspect of doing business. "most value" and "effective communication" traditionally are related to immediate results. "Sales today" is what is often used to measure how effective and how valuable things are. But this isn't *quite* the way we work. Our philosophy is that the long-term results are what really counts, or at least counts as much as today's results. If you have played a few Battlefront games you will perhaps notice a common theme: "deep" gameplay. Our philosophy is that if the game is "good" then it will prevail. Instead of spending time and assets on maximizing today's profits, we prefer to put in the time to design a game that we think is "good". If we had an endless supply of resources we could perhaps do both, but as it is we think that making good games is better down the road than boasting about them. Our busines model - internet sales - allows us to do this as well. If we had to sell primarily through retail it wouldn't be possible - "day one sales" is the magic word there.
- if we were driven by the idea to "maximize profits" (which is what "most value" and "most effective communication" are about in the end), we wouldn't be doing PC wargames, but creating sports games for Wii. Luckily, for you, everyone at Battlefront is driven as much by the idea of making the games that they like to play themselves as by the idea that we need to make profit (we do, but not "at all cost" and "beyond any other considerations").
The fact that Battlefront is still here after 10 years while many competitors are not so far seems to confirm that our philosophy can't be all that wrong.

I bet you guys never realized how one picture of a Tiger tank could end up stirring this hornets nest, lol

Lanzfeld,
Yes, as well as I remember the "you are biased in favor of the Allies" mud throwing fun, often times concurrent with the "you are biased in favor of the Germans" smack downs Ah... sweet memories!
Steve
Why do I get a feeling those memories will come back once this new sim is released! Its like listening to the combat flightsim community going on with the never ending war over the Spit vs FW 190 arguement!

Yep, I realize who Wittmann was attacking. I was just replying in general terms, as the question was pretty general in the first place. Wittmann's attack was something that stood out to all the rest at that point in time too.

Did, er, Tigers actually operate against the US forces?
This probably got covered ten pages ago and I'm about to get hammered for not using the search function.
Yes they did, first encounter I believe was in Tunisia during the battle of Kasserine. Not sure if Tigers were present in Italy, but believe there wre some units there.
Not up on how soon the Americans ran into them in Europe, first notable action I've read about was Wittmann and his Tigers at Villars Bocage. Pieper had Tiger units during the Battle of the Bulge too.
Here's an interesting read, and some good ideas for a later module for this new sim!

One thing I keep coming across when I read about the whole Tiger tank series, is the trouble they had with bad transmissions. Wouldn't that be something to try and add into this new sim! Would have to be a first I would think! Imagine moving into a good firing position, or trying to get out of a bad situation, and then all of a sudden, the tranny goes, lol
That would be just my luck too!

I like the direction they are going in for this series, looks promising! I think the Tiger tank looks wonderful at this stage, great work there! So, to keep myself occupied until this sim is ready, think I'll get this Tiger and do some practicing, so I won't lose my touch until this sim comes out,lol

Found this link in another forum, thought very recent pictures from that military action, might prove interesting. From a Russian Army site, so unless you can read Russian, just enjoy the pictures, lol
Some are of casualties, not for the squeamish. Most are action photos though, some of the Russian tanks are pretty beat up, makes you wonder what kind of eyesight the driver has!

Just wondering for those of us who preordered this module, has anyone received their cd yet? Still waiting on mine. This is not a complaint, just wondering what the status is on shipping out the cd's?
Could this be the first pic of CMx2 WWII ? [Edit] Yes!

You should have put up a picture of some T34's, then you could change the poem to this-
Out along the edges
Always where I burn to be
The further on the edge
The hotter the intensity
Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take you
Right into the Danger Zone
