  1. I've said it for years, and I've said it quite a bit recently, but for the record... there's too few wargames out there. Anybody that can make a stab at a decent game is good for our hobby. No doubt PCO will appeal to some more than CM:BN, no doubt CM:BN will appeal to some more than PCO. But let's keep in mind that for most people neither is appealing and we should be glad that there's stupid people like us who don't run off to make yet another RTS or FPS game :D

Thats what I think too. Its ridiculous to fight over it. We should be glad that there is more than one option available. We cant seriously have too many CM style games. The more the merrier.

If your talking about PCO I'm shocked...with step infantry not sure how it can be the greatest tacyical game out there...I love tactical games but it did nothing for me due to the very abstract infantry...now if you love tanks it's fine...but infantry...meh...

Anyway horses of courses...one mans meat...and all the other sayings....if YOU love it then thats what counts...

Yeah its true that its a abstract. Theres a mod however (simple modification of XML files) that enables squads to have max ten visible men. Thats somthing atleast.

  2. CMx1 did not have variable speed settings. It's occasionally requested, but it would be a mess. Sound effects would either sound like an old record player at the wrong speed or the 1/2 the action would be going on without the sounds. I don't think it would be very enjoyable.

The best way to replay, IMHO, is to pick one portion of the battle and watch that and only that. Then move to a different portion of the battle and watch that and only that.

I knew it was the sounds. Total war has no sounds on half-speed (I still use it though). However I guess panzer command ostfront did somthing differently because they dont have this sound problem.

  3. I also love the WEGO system. Perfect for those who play a little slower. And the fact that you don't have complete control means you can enjoy the turn replays. Can't think of many games that allow you to play and rewind the game over and over and over.

Me too but I would also like a slower 1:2 timescale. Things move up a bit too fast in realtime to enjoy all the rich details. PCO and I think first CMs have it so why not CMx2 also?

  4. May 12 --- The Longest Day

This has been the longest and most unproductive day at work I have ever had!!! The only strategies and logistics I am thinking about have to do with taking out MG42's and Panzers!!!!

    ONLY ONE MORE HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sounds just like me! Good to know Im not the only one. I can blame the epidemy.
