  1. OK, guess I finally decided to swallow my pride and ask a question that has been with me for a while.

    I understand what hull down position means, thou not a tanker was in the Army for 10+ years and play the hell out of SB Pro PE. But I can't figure out how it really works in the CM series, mostly I just use hunt. If you want your tank platoon in a hull down position overlooking a battlefield direction or a most likely point of enemy entry, do you click on the point that you want them watching and they will move to hull down position forward or do you select the little hill or ditch or whatever that you want the tank to move to and go hull down overlooking the front towards enemy.

  2. OK... done that. tried on multiple computers, multiple browsers, must be tied to my account problem. Then gave up in frustration, now back because I really want my Black Sea game to install.

    Is there another location for downloads, can you still by CD's like we use to in the early days, think it was an additional 10 bucks when we orders. lol

     

  3. I've bought and played every Combat Mission game since the beginning. But except to just look at and do a simple try it I've never really done anything with the mission editor.

    I'm just wondering...

    1. Is there a way to edit the tutorial campaign mission to replace the default CMFB units with the just released Downfall late units. Infantry, tanks from the US to the commonwealth?

    2. And I've wanted to test certain small unit force on force, but no matter what I try I can't seem to get rid of the required full organization when using the editor. What I mean here is I want to put just a platoon of armor against another platoon of armor or some AT guns but I'm required to put and keep the full organization. I know I can delete certain units and other platoons etc etc, but still can't just have 4 tanks and nothing else.

     

    Any advice on where to look and what to do? (And yes to answer your questions, yes I read the included pdf's, watch some you tube videos but still can't seem to just do a small unit.) (And yes I did a search in this forum first, nothing answering my question. lol)

  4. I was able to get Cold War downloaded and updated, can't download any other games like Black Sea, or any of them. When I check and start download it sits in an endless Q. I've waited for hours and no grab. I've attempted different games, different times etc etc... what's up with the download system, and again for Gosh sakes put some titles on my order page already.

  5. Never even opened the mission editor till tonight, and I've been playing the CM series since the very first one. 20+ years ago. lol

    Q1. Anyone know of a good tutorial, either written or maybe someone made a video example of it? (of course, now that I think of it, might be one in the digital manual.)

    Q2. I'm looking to do some simple test missions, I was trying to set up basic missions with mainly a platoon size element, or maybe company at the most. I was looking to recreate some of the classic Tank Platoon missions in Cold War. But looking at the unit options it's making me purchase large formations. I don't want those, I simply want a platoon of tanks and maybe some basic infantry, mortar, or AT support. Is there a simple way just to make these kinds of missions or does everything have to be set to proper TO&E?

  6. Sorry, another stupid question I'm sure... but I'm confused anyway...

     

    In this hummer there is a driver and a gunner, and a scout team...Are they one in the same, is the driver and gunner the scout team? Do I dismount the scout team from the vehicle or keep them in the vehicle to use that laser designator?  If I have them exit they can't take the designator with them, right? That's assigned/attached to the vehicle?

     

    Any advise on using these scout teams in this modern era?

  7. Sorry for my ignorance, but was wondering about some of the armor commands in CMRT... I have a platoon of tanks lined up at the edge of a wood line... what does "HIDE" mean armor wise? Will they turn off engines, will they back up into the wood line, will they auto-engage when they see a threat?

     

    and also... should I have those hidden armor units unbuttoned, or keep then open?

Got a issue I hope you can enlighten me on... how can I get my machinegun teams to proper deploy at this railroad crossing, so it can cover the infantry assault across that danger zone into the woods a far... they either are too exposed and easily picked by enemy snipers or to far back where their fields of fire are not correct... I've tried adjusting to the milli-foot but it seems to be either or, not perfect... any ideas, maybe a different command then move or hunt?

What I thought would happen was that I put a lone AT team in a nice ambush location in a PBEM game, sure enough the enemy sent a tank there, while hiding I faced towards the enemy and it drove by nearly 50 meters but my AT team never did anything, now i have it up and running to catch up to the tank and shot it in the rear...

    Aren't they suppose to engage when in range, even while hiding...or am I wrong on something?
