But in real life the war will not wait while you issue orders nor can you realistically issue orders simulataneously. Having said that I agree that you should play the game the way that gives you the most rewarding experience. My problem is that I have never been in a real war (except for dodging the buzz- bombs) so I am having to learn the hard way so as not to lose and lose badly.
  2. To pause or not to pause - that is the question. More fun on the fly especially if you are attacking but until my reactions improve as I get accustomed to the camera moves I'll pause now and then to relay new instructions. Otherwise its is definitely more realistic especially with such a competent AI to let battle proceed.

  3. As a gamer but really quite a novice when it comes to RTS I am curious to hear how the experts tackle a battle. Do they meticulously assess their assets and then formulate a detailed plan? Do they pause frequently to check what is working? Or do they just "let battle commence" and intervene when things seem to bechanging for the worse? I realise there will be personal preferences here but for any of us bovices it would be very interesting ti listen and learn.

  4. Demo worked fine. Bought DVD

Installed today licence installed as well. then installed patch. Game wont play. Uninstalle and then reinstalled game. Version 1.2.0.44. Works fine as does Mission Editor. Reinstalled patch to bring it to 1.2.0.46(Same address as game) Game won't play. Unistalled and then reinstalled ame. Works fine so far. Question is the patch necessary?

  5. I can see that as more people use the Mission Editor, more missions will become available on-line. I think it would be helpful if some kind soul could write down clear and unambigouous instructions as to how to install a new or modified mission. I say this because I tried to install a modification to the infamous Defence tutorial and while carefully removing the existing xlp file and replacing it with the modified one I managed to get Victory without a move. Its seems almost as complicated as loading scenery onto FSX.

  6. I followed your set up, Task, but the two houses we were hiding nehind both got removed by shellfire. I lost the Panther almost straightaway but the Jagdpanzer then proceeded to eliminate 10 tanks in a row with no intervention from me. Needless to say there was no bottleneck at the bridge since none got near enough.

Moral leave it to the AI omce you have a ood set up and intervene only occasionally The AI is so good that it works for us as well as the enemy.

Its a pity there is no HOLD FIRE UNTIL FIRED UPON:. It would save a lot of PAUSING which I find necessary but breals the flow.

I know i have only added some tanks but it is fun smile.gif

I will post some screens soon.

Is this a hoax? twice I went to your dowload and all it did was fill my screen with code and brought my browser to a complete halt. I tried it twice and now I think I will give it a miss. Looks awfully like a virus to me.
  9. The Manual shows no list of keystrokes. The useful primer and the traing lesson on LOS explains the use of ENTER. But do we have for example a keystroke to select ALL units? And how about one to select previous unit selectd. And is there a way to take a platoon and place it IN a trench not just near it? Or do I have to place each one. Setting up for battle is important but very tedious so any tips will help. I'm using the smouse croll wheel for all movements of the camera.

    IMPRESSIVE.

    You just beat the unbeatable.

No not me - the AI of my two wet behind the ears AT gun crews. I sat and watched it all.

Most of the people that are more ferociously criticising the gameplay, are in fact frustrated for not being able to beat the AI.

War is not easy, isn´t it. The AI is though to crack but is beatable, just have to have the patience to develop superior tactics.

But that my friends takes time. ;)

Right on Miguel. I was told that Training Mission 3 was impossible. But after listening to lots of advice I completed it. The AI was deadly at destroying my two AT teams but not the guns. I had 4 infantry dash over and reman and they then polished off all the tanks whose AI presumably thought that the ATs had been permanently silenced. Humans could easily make the same mistake.
  12. IT CAN BE DONE. Listening to your advice here is how. Place the two ATs as far away as possible in the bottom right hand corner. START. Withinn half a minute or so both sets of gunners will go up in smoke BUT NOT THE atS THEMSELVES. Select two paurs of grunts from the treches and have them DASH to the ATs. They then start firing away and with no intervention from me they ñpolished off all the attacking tanks. Then the game paused and lo and behold a whole set of reinforcements appeared in the adjacent trenches and the rest was a piece of cake .I selected the whole trrop less the AT and had them tarfet each german soldier one by one - selecting the nearest first. The AT tool care of the one solitary tank. Lots of grenadiers attacking but they never got close enough to do damage.

I know there is a lot of criticism going on, nostly from one or two characters but I have to say for me it was a blast just to see these grnts in full detail and beautifully animated getting on with the job. Of course I'm sure there is a fault in that the AI assumed wrongly that the two ATs were done for but hell I'm not complaining.

  13. I have well over 100 games on my shelf new and old, all had some problems out of the box I will agree, but I can honestly say that NONE played as badly as this.
I always thought that the most challenging part of a new game was getting it installed and working. Times have changed since the days when we only had space for one game at a time. Now the games are much bigger and dare I say better. I suspect the problem is one of expectations. I have learned never to read the hype just check out the demos. I thought T-72 was going to be a blast and was sadly dissappointed when I downloaded the full game. But then it was inexpensive and took me to the Battlefront website and the next thing I knew I was playing the TOW demo andloving it. Of course when I recieve the DVD and install it I may be disillusioned - but I have paid my money and noone has made me any promises. I have bought 5 games now from Battlefront and only T-72 was a dud. In my view that's a pretty good record.

  14. After waltzing through the first two training missions I seem to be totally incompetent at defending my 2 AT guns in Mission 3. I try hiding them behind a tree but in seconds of START BATTLE they go up in a puff of smoke. Forget the rest since they have 5 tanks and we have a dozen frightened soldiers. What should I be doing?
