Just 'upgraded' [cough, cough ] to Vista and have encountered my first incompatability. My problems are thus:
i. Everytime I launch TOW it asks if I'm happy with my resolution changes.
ii. In the unit deployment screen I have to click twice on the move to/from reserves buttons to actually move a unit to or from the reserves. On the first click the button moves and goes 'click' but nothing happens, and on the second click it actually moves the unit.
iii. When the mission loads the intro video doesn't play (I loaded the recommended Window Media viewer codec during instalation).
iv. After the blank intro movie all I can see is the command bar overlayed on the reinforcements deployment screen (whose buttons I can still click but do nothing). I can hear things going on in the 3D world.
v. At this point, being unable to bring up any menus I have to Alt-tab out and End Process to quit.
All worked dandly in XP, but please don't say I was asking for it moving to Vista - it is very pretty honest! (and for me some other things actually work that didn't work in XP!)
Any ideas, help or similar stories welcome!
System:
Vista
Core 2 Duo E6600
8800Gtx w/158.24 drivers
2GB RAM
Samsung 204BW + LG Flatron L1710B in 'single monitor performance mode'.

Ta, I'll give this a go!Originally posted by bluescreen2:@taw_mcvittees,
i only switched the andvanced nv setting hardwareaccelaration = one monitor, instead of dualmonitor, so my second one is still running as before, but without accelaration, which is no problem, because most games are played on monitor no.1.
give it a try, so you dont have to re-arrange your icons etc.

Solution found to my woes here:
http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=66&t=000083#000001
Basically, turn off dual monitors in Nvidia control panel. As a workaround this is brilliant but I hope this gets sorted so I won't need to always reconfigure my displays to play TOW.

It has, fantastic!Originally posted by handihoc:Two monitors appear to be a big no-no. Rune has suggested reverting to a single screen, and it did it for me. After two days of sheer frustration, I've disabled one monitor in Nvidia Control Panel and the game now runs like a dream.
Fantastic!
Hope it works for you!

Excellent idea!Originally posted by Avwriter:I know this is only the first full day after release, but I think it would be helpful to have a separate forum exclusively for the discussion of strategy & tactics. Also, down the road, perahps we could have one more dedicated to mission design.

Same with me, which makes one think that it's not to due to our graphics cards being incapable but some kind of program compatibility issue.Originally posted by Cougar_DK:I just changed my resolution from 1680x1050 (screen native reolution) to 1024x768 and the FPS is nearly the same when looking at the units in the first single player battle (don't remember its name) i.e. non campaign.
I did. Made 1 or 2 fps difference.Originally posted by Percopius:Seems that the grass settings made a real big differnce for me. Did you try rolling back the grass setting?

Excellent news, 'cause the game it self looks like it's going to be sucking up a lot of my life once it's up and running properly! :cool:Originally posted by Moon:Handihoc, yes, we're working on it! Top priority for the moment.

My system:
Asus P5B-E MB
E6600 Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
Nvidia 8800GTX
Nvidia 97.94 drivers and 158.19
Downloaded the demo, max settings @ 1680x1050, played first training mission and everything was buttery smooth, but when went to second mission it became stutter city??! Loaded FRAPS and checked FPS; I'm getting about 5-8fps with above settings, and upto 10fps with all settings at Low @ 1024x768. Tried using one core but this slowed things down even more!
Gone through the various tweaks suggested in this forum to no avail. Due to the very poor performance I'm getting I must be suffering from a rather drastic incompatibility. Will try a reinstall this evening and see if that helps.

I seem to have answered my own problem - I launched the game with the 'run as administrator' option. I have no idea why this allows the game to work but it does. Hope this helps soomeone else.
