  1. A lot of video graphics cards use a high pci latency setting which can hog the bus queue.

There is a programme called the pci latency tool, enabling you to set the latency clocks for your graphics card be it AGP or PCI(not pci-express) :( , sound card etc.

This tool, PCI Latency Tool 3.1 V2 can be found at 'The Guru of 3D'.

Remember though to do your homework and read up on it, it helped me to at least play smile.gif the game and stop some sound crackling.

You are able to alter the settings, remember to note down the settings before you change them incase they are not quite right and you can revert back.

Hope this helps some people still having probs, but dont come back moaning to me if it does not work out right, I didnt write the programme, like I said it has helped my game to run better :D

  2. SIO, I have tried all settings within game and adjusted my graphics card settings using omega drivers and the ati 3d control panel.

Steel Torrent is the battle where i experience the problems, had same problems with the demo training scenarios.

I get frame rates of 17-20 at start of mission dropping to 4-7 which makes it unplayable.

I have played some of the campaign, experienced same issues with frame rates and game freezing, having to reset my pc and reboot.

I use ati tray tools to measure frame rate, ensuring that settings in ati tray tools are same as ati 3d control panel, even screen resolutions in game and desktop are always set the same.

    Amd Athlon 3000+ 2.0Ghz

    Asus K8VSEDX mobo

HIS Radeon x1950 pro 512mb, using omega drivers.(upgrade from HIS Radeon x1650 pro 512mb)Replaced on 25/4/07, giving same problems.

    2.5 Ghz ram

    Windows xp (sp2)

Going to try different battle, will post back.

  3. When I open task manager with the game running, in the process tab, tow.exe is using 100%. :(

I have just played Red Orchestra on line, its using 30-40% max, :D . Could it be that this is causing game stability issues, such as low frame rates and crash to desktop, game freezes etc?

I have tried all configurations, cannot play this game longer than 20mins before framerate crawls to 5fps, or game freezing. Problem worsens when extra models appear.

Must be something in the game code causing this!

  4. Thanks Madmatt, glad to hear 1c are also getting involved with our issues. smile.gif

Certainly looking forward to being able play the game with some stability, because my own experiences show there must be a memory hog somewhere as task manager in windows is showing 100% cpu use, and there are no other programs running in the background!

Will keep on posting back my feedback from the game in other posts, just wanted to thank all at Battlefront for their endeavours. tongue.gif

  5. wolfseven, your motherboard same as mine, unfortunately its a 754 socket board. the highest amd which will fit is the 3700+ rated at 2.4ghz.

been trying to source one, ebay got a couple of used ones but priced at £100 or so, and then you would have to overclock it to get near 3ghz. cant believe we are bottlenecked though between the cpu and graphics card!!

  6. athlon 3000+ @2ghz

    asus k8vsedx

    2.5 gb ram

his radeon x1650 pro 512mb(omega drivers)

    windows xp (sp2)

    ati tray tools(for frame rate)

I get crash to desk top, frame rates of 15-20 at start of missions, dropping to 5, jerky model movements when more models enter battles.

Have set ingame resolution as desktop which is 1280x800 75 hertz refresh, 32 bit colour(gonna try 16bit will post back).Shadows off, model quality high, water detail medium, grass detail normal, trees medium & distance normal. eax off, sky off, high landscape detail.

  7. game now running smile.gif , not brilliant, framerate between 10-15, how does that compare to other people :( , turned all details down, ie shadows none, water detail medium, grass normal, trees medium, tree distance low, models are high(dont want to lose them :D ),disabled eax, have manged to keep high landscape detail, using 16 bit colour, gonna try 32 bit tomorrow if I get home early from work  at least now its sort of playable  thanks to the forum I'm slowly getting there, more tweaking and should be ok, but what a pain in the ass!! ;)

  8. AMD athlon 64 3000, 2.00ghz

    2.5gb ram

    assus k8vsedx motherboard

    radeon x1650 pro 512mb

Using latest ati 7.4 driver, full game same as demo, ok to start but when the action kicks in and more units on screen very slow, laggy frame rate. really unplayable like this.

Tried altering my virtual memory etc as in my last post, no effect.

Gonna try disabling eax and shadows etc. :(

  9. He hee smile.gif ive got my name in the game (remember the competition), but 2 think that i might have an american accent is unbearable  Still waiting for the game to download so dont know for sure :( , will post back when I find out. Ain't giving my name in the game away though!

  10. hi all, down loading full game as i write this, also played demo battle with very slow frame rate. Looking through the help sections has been helpful, but nothing worked so far.

So, gonna try this! Alter your virtual memory, etc, ie, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308417/#. go to this page and alter settings. havent tried it meself still dl game file but will post back and let people know, or if you can try it now do so and let us all know the effects. fingers crossed. ;)
