I had a QB AI opponent so 'smart' that a T-72 tank appeared on turn # 1 in my setup zone on a medium map and proceeded to blast the crap out of my company of Syrian regulars.
It was smart enough to start out with the ATGM teams I had.
I don't know if that was a bug or what, but it was a truly unexpected moment from the AI.
-
I've had Syrian ATGM crews stuck disembarking a jeep, stuck for many turns in fact, where the jeep nor the crews respond to any orders. Then a Bradley came over the rise and smoked the jeep, and the AT crew. If it had worked properly, the Bradley would have walked into a nice ATGM ambush. Instead, my guys are walking in circles on each others heads. Awesome!
I'm holding off playing anymore until some hot patch action happens. It just gets too aggravating.

Sweet!
How about movement/target lines that hug the ground instead of burying through it? Helps identify tiny hillocks that can be easily missed in the monotone deserts.
-
Why can't you deploy HMGs on roofs and windows?
I've had that problem too.

Dear Battlefront:
Being able to spot/shoot through walls isn't a little 'oops', its a major, major problem if you are trying to make a realistic game. I understand 'abstraction', but this is just plain broken.
Wasn't there a beta test or something?

OK, here's another question:
How do I adjust fire?
I've selected the Spotting unit (FSV, FO) and selected Adjust Fire in the planning phase, yet it doesn't allow me to adjust the target cursor at all.
I've tried doing this many times through each stage of the Arty battery firing, from Receiving to Spotting to Firing, but no dice adjusting anything at any point in the firing order...
I RTFM, but it isn't very specific on this subject at all.
Thanks!

My problem is with vehicles and infantry moving through gaps in walls. I took 7 turns to get all my strykers to the wall in the first campaign scenario, laid down smoke, and had squad assault the corner building through a gap in the wall.
Instead my guys run around in circles, then make a break for the guarded entrance, the long way, because that 20 foot gap in the wall didn't appear to them for some reason. Half of my squad gets gunned down out in the open, running the opposite direction I tell them.
Thats not good.
I gave them short, simple commands to go through the blasted gap, but they insisted on suicide. Frustrating.

Add that to the "CMx1 things I miss" thread.
I find it annoying too.

A printer friendly version, pictures intact, no back ground color, would be very much appreciated!
Thanks.

Hear Hear!Originally posted by David Chapuis:Adjustable waypoints.
One of the best feature additions to the series.
That would be cool to have back, same with stat boxes for my doods.I miss the penetrations labels when a shell or missile hit a tank or apc
Loved that too. It helps you see the broader plan you've laid out, also adds to playability.Being able to show all movement/targeting lines.
Hear Hear!I want the VCR controls during the first run through a turn back.
Indeed, it would. It would also make things easier on my mouse and wrist.Ohh and a right click pop up order list would be fantastic!Another vote for having the timing delay clock back too.
I know I'm supposed to 'unlearn'(thanks Yoda!) but these are features that add to playability, reduce frustration, enhance intuitiveness, and wouldn't change the fundamental game play of CM:SF.
But still, an awesome game.

I would like to toggle " Show all Targets. Waypoints"
The hotkeys feel wonky. By having to select a sub-menu to get to actions, and by having over lapping hotkeys, it makes things confusing.
Also, how the heck do you place units for quick battles?
I keep having to sort out my vehicles after the game starts. Lame.
-
I really like it so far. A couple of little bugs already, but hey, its cool.
Is there any way to toggle 'Show all targets/ waypoints'like in CMx1?
I didn't see anything in the manual or Hotkey menu for it, and its something I'd really like to see.
I have to click on every unit to see the issued commands and current targets, which is a little annoying.
-
I was moving my stryker vehicles up a road, just the usual 'Move' Command, and they did something I've never seen done; they turned around and started reversing into the direction I wanted them to go!
Um, I don't think they're supposed to do that.
It didn't help that the AI started to plink at them with a BMP.

Hey y'all.
I've been playing and lurking here since 2001. Haven't played much since CMAK first came out, but CM:SF has piqued my interest again.
Anytime now.....

I wonder if they draw straws for cleanup duty after using that.Originally posted by Primarch:You know the Abrams has Canister now too Coolest shotgun ever

I don't recall how the X1300 compares to the other cards discussed so far, so I'm not sure if the ATI X1300 will run very well.
Battlefront posted something earlier about an XP patch for multiprocessor power management buried in the MSFT site. I think I found the right one and installed it.
Any Beta testers out there run on something similar to this?:
Intel Pentium 4 Dual Processor
524 3.06GHz/533FSB/1MB Cache
1GB DDR400 PC3200 Memory (512MB x 2)
80GB HD
Radeon X1300 256MB AGP
Win XP Pro
I'll be running this to an HD projector occasionally, so I hope I can eek out the performance to make it look good.

WEGO.
I will try RT once I feel I've got the knack of it.
I just think its damn fine that we have the option.
Well done BFC.

Yes. Two computers.

D'oh!
Edit: I'll have to check now anyways....

Wait, I have a dual core processor!Originally posted by Battlefront.com:There is also a bad WIndows XP bug that Microsoft has a patch for. Has to do with power management software. We're going to make sure everybody has a link to it. It is a patch that MS tries to keep secret because running it on a laptop means shorter battery life. Typical MS... instead of fixing the piece of software that is broken (in this case power management with multi-processors) they disable it. At least that's what the tech geeks say the fix does!
I can tell you, without the fix from MS the game basically is unplayable. Pretty much anything that uses 3D is unusuable, including CAD software (a CAD friend was the one that told me about this fix!).
Steve
Any chance you could post a link so we can get all prepared?
I've downloaded and installed all the newest drivers and hardware updates in anticipation, but I'm pretty sure I missed that one.

Yeah, that was one of the Pictures threads. THats the only place the Search found any reference to the M231.
I'll just do what MikeyD suggests with some Syrian forces and see what happens. TWO DAYS....
Another curious thing about that weapon is that insane ROF. If you go to the trouble of designing and manufacturing a specialized weapon like that, why give it such high ROF and a standard 30 round clip? It seems a drum mag would be a better choice, but hey, what do I know?
-
Will the M231be modeled at all?
Is it used anywhere other than the rear doors of the Bradley?
I doubt there would be too many scenarios that required the use of it, but it sure would be cool if the dismounting infantry let loose with a few bursts. The 30 round mag wouldn't last too long, but it would sound cool.

Right.
I'll wait for patch 1.05 before I start playing then.
