  1. agree with the wood.

being weened onto pbems and tcp stuff with the earlier titles, plus the sheer volume of different forces you could use.

having had CMSF since day 1,im in the same boat, the human v human battles just arent the same.single player feels just the same, like played 10 battles, youve played em all, maybe we got spoiled with the first generation of the game, and its simple yet brilliant style of multiplayer options available.

but i had my doubts about the replayability from the beginning, with such little choice of forces available.

hell.anyone would think the US is the only country in the world with a participating armed service.

sure,i know, the modules will add content i hear you say,but i doubt ill pay 50 bucks(?) for each one.

i know steve has repeatedly said they wanted a new direction,*we arent just a WW2 company anymore*

thats all well and good, but where do i buy my WW2 stuff from now?

kinda reminds me of when they changed the flavour of coke.

i dont want to sound like a basher,im not

ive invested in all their products and will continue to,hopefully.just not on this particular title.

  2. no, i think they get it alright

5 is a fair score for my mind

lets hope the *new* overlord is tad more impressive than this one.

not a patch on CMx1 titles

it would be fair to say,im not a fan on this theatre, however,i bought it along with all the earlier stuff,to support the team, for the upcomming WW2 stuff.

just doesnt have enough scope to keep my interest, and is a tad clumsy.

    sorry fella,s

  3. ive aleady been onto support however

anyone else having issues logging in to the lobby?

i havent been succesful for 3 days now

i also notice there has been no apparent action on the leader board in this peroid either, leading me to believe that no one else can either?

2 other friends in my area cant connect either?

  4. thats correct

there 1 txt and 3 image files you need to make

the sizes are displayed in the various sections of the editor

1st is the global image ie,the syrian world map

2nd is the operational image,i just take a screenshot of the 3d map in some form ,resize it,save as .bmp then import it

3rd is the tactical map,ie the battle plan.i screen shot the editor view of the map.edit it in PS to add the arrows and targets and watnot.

    resize,save as .bmp then import

there is a 4th or if you prefer the initial screen as well, the little image displayed as you view the battle listed in the scenario/campaign menu.

  5. i bought all three as ww2 is my preffered genre,i woulda bought 4,5,and 6 if it was there too,i bought CMSF to support BFC,no other reason,i want ww2 stuff,i bought down in flames,i bought TOW.personally i couldnt wait for CMAK,because of the australian troops finally,we were in ww2 aswell you know:)and the middle east then and now.

if im not mistaken,CMBO was BTS not BFC,although i appreciate their the same people.i kinda like the name, bigtime software:)

    interesting ?

  6. being the whole game is a fictional conflict,

i agree red airpower should be available.or modded?.for red v red or blue for that matter

but since the game has very limited scope unit wise, theres probably little point.

modules? for australian ,british, russian, german, and any others you care to mention ,with the ability to fight on any side, would certainly make a *futuristic fictional modern conflict* very interesting indeed, but as far as i can see,its not possible.

i can/could see the world domination championships already:)

im enjoying the game,i really am,but i just dont get the small scope of this at all.i mean itll last a few months of serious gaming, then youll have seen and done it all.as i presume, is intended by the 3 month dateline?

4 years work for limited longevity?

from a gamers view.i just dont get it.

from a business view however i can see the benefits of selling a new module or the like every year or what not.

  7. i really like the editor and AI scripting features, assuming you can be bothered making up scenarios

bugs aside,i like the gameplay in its basics.

the actions good and the visuals and sound are good.

the wind moving smoke around the battlefield, the tracers and explosions, are very cool.

my biggest problem is lack of troop nations,so far, its much more fun playing as the reds,as you got lots of different units.

the blue side is just one arm of the US forces and would probably get a tad jaded after awhile.

should be all nato troops and all their respective arms.

british and australian (at least) troops should be included.

not too impressed about the terrain being strictly middle east, although i can live with that.

the QB maker in its current form with the painful unit selection,is just not gonna cut it.as most of us expect to be able to generate QBs with the same replayability that were used too.the only real way to do it now is manually creating the forces and map, setting the params etc.i understand the reasoning behind this but in practice its a hinderence.

although i havent tried the WEGO in CMSF,i can see, however,if its not in a good working order for the PBEMers,(in both forms TCP and Email),itll be sorely missed, some of us old blokes need the classic wego,or suffer the next few days with major hand and finger cramps:)

i was a little concerned that BFC were saying, the next CM2 game will be like overlord again, late war western europe? with just american forces again?.pfft, not happy jan

i didnt catch what they had in store for the german side, probably just one arm of the german forces i suspect.hopefully its not too late to get them to open up the scope abit, instead of closing the shutters even tighter.

i understand the statement ,BFC want to be known as a wargame developer and not just a WW2 dev, however,we(the punters) all got on board and bought and played the CM1 games and helped get us where we are today.

a point i think should not be trifled with too much.

maybe we all got spoilt by the grand scope the CM1 games provided us,but for me its too hard to go back to a narrower view.in my mind getting away from the basics that made the originals so good.

ill continue to play CMSF as i think we all should, even if its only to help improve the next release.

im enjoying the challenge of CMSF,learning and applying the lessons ,posting thoughts and comments, all helps i hope.

  8. heres my first scenario for testing

    please post comments

    Dawn Patrol

play the baked scenario from the blueside

or use the non baked version for blueside and 2 player.

no scripted blue missions in either.

    authors notes;

you have command of a small force, seperated slightly.

you start the mission almost into the action.

    be prepared for action

you may get reinforcements just ib time.

    not for the faint hearted.

    Enjoy!

  9. greets,

trying to take a screen shot of the map whilst in editor

all the usual methods have been tried

    heres the problem,

when i go to try and paste my saved screen into paint or PS and the like, all i get is a nice picture of my desktop with the CMSF minimised to the taskbar?odd, even though i print screen looking at my map it only prints the desktop?

anyone figured this out yet?or a way around it?

    vista

    Q6600

    88oo

    battlefront version 1.02

  10. i was wondering when it would resort to threats of violence, simply unacceptable, remove the heathen.

im not to pleased with the game myself, but i said the same thing about almost every other title ive purchased over the last few years.

CmBO,SH3 and now SH4 ufo series, even olegs IL2 series, all had dramatic issues out of the box,but over time the majority of issues were improved to a satisfactory level,by the devs and the community.

i cant recall any game that worked perfectly at v1.0.

im quite happy to wait and see what develops in the future regarding this title,if it improves, thats great,if it doesnt, too bad,ive spent more money on booze and broads in 2 mins than i spent on this game, its dirt cheap,as are most of BFC/1C products.

no ones losing their house over this are they?

    45 bucks is piffle

maybe more time and effort should be put in by *some* to serious issues going on in this world.
