This was the case for me as well. I had my desktop on 16 bit, and didn't notice. Changing it to 32 bit allowed me to correct the resolution, and greatly improved performance and graphics.Originally posted by serval:Running CMSF 1680x1050 32bit working alright
But when changing desktop to 16bit CMSF goes down to 1024x768.
Odd. Glad its solved anyway

It's you.
My entire d/l was 1000+ KB/sec.

Best of luck to you, and enjoy BCT.

I hadn't heard of this before, so did a quick google. Is this the exchange you're referring to?Originally posted by Lee:Like that idiot General Wesley Clark on CNN just before our troops crossed the border into Iraq from Kuwait, claiming that the gas masks they had didn't work right, and if Saddam fired chemical weapons at them that they wouldn't be protected since the masks were defective.
ZAHN: You say the equipment is good enough to fight under those circumstances. And yet I know you're familiar with the General Accounting audit that came out a report that suggested that there are defects in many of the masks that our soldiers are wearing, in addition to the chemical suits. And you have Congressman Christopher Shays saying he has expressed concern about the matter and that very little attention has been paid to protecting our troops from chemical and biological attacks if we go to war.
Do you agree with his assessment?
CLARK: Well I -- certainly, there have been some problems with the manufacturer of the equipment. And we've always been concerned about the gas mask, the filters, making sure you've got the right filters, some of the agents that are very small in size. A decade ago, it was rumored they would penetrate the gas masks. We've changed the masks, we've changed the filters. And we're continuing to work these things.
There's no magic solution though. Protecting against chemical agents or biological agents requires a whole system in place and lots of individual activities. And occasionally, soldiers will damage their suits or the plastic visor in the mask will be -- someone will sit on it and it will be cracked or they'll have the wrong filter in. And so it's a matter of the chain of command's responsibility to check and double check and recheck, again, to make sure every soldier has what he needs and is properly prepared for the environment.
ZAHN: General Wesley Clark, thanks so much for joining us. I'm not even going to ask you if you're going to run for president or not, because I know you're not going to answer.
CLARK: That's right.

I think that is the catch. I'd be shocked if they managed to intercept SINCGARS when used properly. But, it's certainly possible, even probable, that it wasn't used correctly.Originally posted by Bil Hardenberger:target unit was not using encrytion but was broadcasting in the clear.. which back then was not unusual for tactical units.
The article specifically mentions cell phone traffic being intercepted, I wonder if the IDF uses the "talkabout" style radios as well?

If that's a serious concern, don't join. Serve your country via Americorp or something that lets you set your own schedule.Originally posted by Homo ferricus:i don't mind 1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year for eight years, but i do want to spend more time at home than in ****hole countries, there is a Marine Station within walking distance of my house here in San Bruno.
When you join the service, you give yourself over to their needs. Even if you don't deploy as a reservist, you'll have to make time for training. Even if there is a unit within walking distance, you'll end up with a unit with a higher need, or matches your military career goals better.
Go to your local VFW hall or something similar, and talk with veterans. If they seem the kind of people you'd like to spend time with, that's a good sign. If you're still interested, get everything from the recruiter in writing.

Because Hezbollah is claiming they listened to the IDF communications. Is it propaganda, or is the technology gap closing?

I'm new to the CM series (demos only, actually) but my vote is for Syria with Minor Backstory and Fictional Subsection.
What drew me in and has me intending to purchase CMSF is the attention to detail and realistic modeling that the BF team puts in. However, I see where playing a little fast and loose with the OPFOR units would make user based scenarios more varied, which would be a good thing.
Looking forward to the game,

I'm not a Mac expert, but I have worked with a few.
Isn't there an OS9 emulator built into OSX that you could use?
If that doesn't work for you, don't forget about Apple's Bootcamp, which allows you to run Windows on Mac hardware.
OVERALL are you enjoying CMSF ? (YES or NO)

Yes.
I haven't put as many hours as others in this forum have, but the hours I have played have been some good gaming. However, I've only played the tutorial and up through a bunch of campaign battles, I haven't touched multiplayer or quick battles.
