Yes Jung, I feel I'm not alone amongst my euro compatriots when I admit to being partial to the odd fine cigar enjoyed with a rare cognac as I recline in my Louis XIV original leather backed armchair and crushed velvet smoking jacket. One must allow the occasional indulgence of a gentlemans vices. ;)

    Thanks a bunch, Hub.

Now all you need to do to completely satisfy me is set up a European server (or any server with a ping under 190) :D

poesel is running a german server </font>
  3. bboyle,

Yep. I was well and truly roystered by mines on that map. I think it was jby doing the dropping. No complaints here. It's a legitimate and very effective tactic. It does make it nearly impossible to attack on that map (which was difficult anyway because the bots can't seem to navigate around it at all).

FYI: Near the end we had 6 dropships stuck at various points all over the map. T'was a bit of a farce really.

And have you noticed how you almost know which team'll win depending on the map. Some maps favour the defender. Some the attacker. I think if we had more human players it'd help. I dunno...

  4. I agree that they are overpowered. I can speak as someone who's used them and had them used against me.

You can actually drop multiple mine pods simultaneously straight on top of or around AFV's.

  5. adzling,

Lined up beside the others your 2 new AFV's look very impressive indeed. The 6 wheeled Paladin is an improvement too. Well done.

Think of the delicious irony the first time you are killed by one of your own creations. I imagine you'll feel a mix of chagrin and pride...

  6. Bump!

Had some great infantry battles last night. That two hills map. Squads of infantry at close range in trenches that had been dug by a Cutter earlier.

It was good because I could actually see something. Usually if I'm infantry in the grass I'm flailing around blind. I know some people turn off foliage for performance issues. In order that they don't have an unfair advantage I propose the following:

Get an old pair of spectacles and glue some grass clippings to the outside of the lenses. Alternatively keep a potted plant handy near the computer. When controlling infantry in cover place the plant in front of the monitor. Hey Presto! The foliage effect without the performance hit!

  7. I dropped a 76mm Turret behind aittam who was busy in his Cutter trying to capture an AAD tower. The turret had a close range shot at the rear of his vehicle. It didn't even look in his direction let alone fire a shot.

  8. Will the Nemisis tank destroyer have a bigger gun? In WW2 the Germans removed the turret on tanks so they could install a larger gun rather than to improve armour protection or sloping.

e.g. the Panther tank couldn't be upgunned to take the 88mm so they got rid of the turret and hey presto the Jagdpanther.

I'm thinking a 150mm gun. Sights optimised for long range zoom at the expense of short.

If it's too much trouble to design a new gun then stick an ATGM launcher on it with the 120mm. Maybe just 2 to 4 missiles.

    What do you think?

  9. Well today has been a bit frustrating. Nearly every game has had something go wrong.

From being flipped over in my Thor by a bot driven Paladin on my team.

Being stuck in inverted crashed Dropships.

Having all my infantry killed in a building they were occupying but when prompted to drop getting a message that I couldn't as I was a passenger. I had Poesel level the building but in the end I had to disconnect and reconnect.

In an Apollo shooting AP at ObankofAmerica, cycling to the coax, back to AP but it fires HEAT even though it says AP on the indicator.

Then there was getting dropped in midair or off the sides of a cliff.

Finally a few server not respondings. :(

All that said though it's still a great game.

  10. Great update. Turrets are a big improvement. Love the DropPods.

Dropships are a bit fiddly though. I've been trapped in a few that have flipped on their back and had to ask a team mate to destroy it. They just lie there.

This has prob already been mentioned but the jammer comes down in a ship rather than a pod.

A lot of disconnects this evening. Once we were all disconnected then my client crashed when I tried to reconnect.

  11. I generally go online from 20.00 to 23.00 Irish time (same as UK). Last night I stayed on 'till about 00.30 but that's a bit too late for me normally as I have to be up for work at 06.30.

Had some good battles against aittam and Jung. Vorlon and Yurch showed up for a while and I had 2 new guys Irongiant and PredatorChimp smile.gif on my team.

Not too much resembling co-ordinated team play from my side but it was good fun.
