[CMSF requirements]

I was playing it on a 4-year old P4 2.8Ghz XP box with 512MB RAM, and an onboard nvidia geforce fx5200 card.

Once I turned off shadows, things ran reasonably well.

What in Vista prevents the LicCtrlService from fully installing? The entry in the services control panel exists, but the runservice.exe is not in C:\windows; so the service can't start, and CMSF will not run.

My account is an admin on the box.

Me, too. I notice when I loaded the saved game, the time was strange. The turn was really at 1:02:00 left in the game, but the first time I loaded the save, it showed 1:16:00 until I rewound the replay. The second time I loaded the save, it showed 1:02:26 or something.... Game blows up with 1 second left on all subsequent turns/replays.

I tried 110 half a dozen times, failing every time with routed troops. Then i found out about the >26m distance between squads. Once i followed that, i was able to take the platoon right up the open area where the wooden fence is.

So, for all the people who are using short bounds with overwatch, keeping squads in comm/control, but are ~still~ failing: check your squad spacings. That was the key factor for me.
