Glad your checking out the best Strategic game around.
I was an early convert of SC1 - been pushing it ever since
Still I wish you would hammer on Dave(Arjuna) to get PBEM incorporated into CotA. Well at least for BftB.
Well I did and I will - PBEM is my #1 item on the wishlist as well.

Sounds suspiciously like the Talonsoft business planOriginally posted by Moon:Kuniworth, yes: we plan to sell people one gazillion games with an awkward copy protection which will prevent them from running the game more than once, then close the business overnight and buy a secret private island off the Chinese coast. If anybody asks, you didn't hear this from me though!

Seriously : **** happens - I wish Battlefront a long and profitable live but I was around when the big wargame publisher's names were SSI, AH and QQP ...

First : thanks for the answer - but it's a bit incomplete. Is this Internet activation a 1-time afair or will you have to go through that procedure again when you get a new pc ?Originally posted by Moon:For the full version, you will have to find some place to access the internet, but it does not have to be from your home or the computer that you want to install the game to. An internet cafe or a friend with an internet connection will do. Since you have to have internet access of some sort to order the game in the first place because it's not available anywhere else, it's not really anything newsworthy
Martin
If it's not, then we won't be able to freshly install the game again when Zeus forbid Battlefront isn't around anymore.
Secondly : does it allow you to install the game on your main rig and on your laptop for when you're on the road ?

Excellent news - one question though : in the requirements no mention is made of needing an internet connection to install or play the game.Originally posted by Madmatt:The subject line pretty much says it all.
Does this mean that the copy protection you're going with is serial number, cd-in-the-drive or none as in SC1 ?
Don't tell me you've gone StarForce ...

Ok - thanks - looking forward to this oneOriginally posted by Moon:eddy, the answers are:
1) yes
2) probably yes
(and "definitely yes" if Battlefront would indeed not be around anymore)
This is all I can say at this point because the features are not yet set in stone. It's possible that SC2 will not even use this system yet, we'll see.

Hi,Originally posted by Moon:But we'll be using a completely different copy protection scheme than what Starforce et al are using, which does not rely on the CD itself at all...
Can you elaborate on this a bit more ? Are you thinking about server/online activation methods ?
If that's too broad a question a couple of short yes/no answers to the following questions might shed some light
1) Can I install SC2 on a portable not connected to the internet ?
2) Can I make a backup copy of all that is needed to re-install SC2 in 5 years time even if - God forbid - Battlefront is not around then anymore ?
Kind Regards,

Hi,Originally posted by Kuniworth:Rambo just told me that he was banned.
I can't believe this crap.
I've been lurking here for a couple of years and just registered to make this post.
I've read through the thread that triggered the ban - can't say that I was shocked by what I've read - that's the way Rambo has been posting for the past couple of years - immature and a bit offensive, but not outrageously so.
If it was just a troll who registered just to make the remarks in question I'd say kick him from the forum, but this guy has done a lot for the SC community and doesn't deserve this.

Eddy's here to enjoy a game of similar appeal.
I enjoyed SC1 immensely - pushed it everywhere, but I'm still waiting on the small print explaining the copy protection in SC2 in detail, before I make-up my mind about buying it.
If it's activation based - and it looks like it will - I'll wait until a crack for it appears as I'm not in the Rent-a-Game business.
