  1. Thanks Moon for your quick answer

    But ...

Husband after work: "Darling, where is my lunch?"

Answer: "Oh, no problem, you can find it in the cookbook on page 45"

    ;)

    Translated:

Customer after reading the newsletter: "Battlefront, where is my free Strategy Guide?"

Answer: "Oh, no problem, you can find it at CDV's webpage, but you must contact ...

    write, ... respond, ...declare ...

    Sorry Moon,

but if I offer my custumer a free guide (with verry big letters), it's my part to deliver a clear functional link ... In my opinion ;)

If this was Microsoft, I would say "keep your .....guide".

But this is Battlefront, my all time favorite wargaming company.

    So I say .... no problem ... :)

  2. Hallo Battlefront :)

I received your informativ newsletter, where you offer

to get the Theatre of War – Free Strategy Guide.

If I follow the link I get to a login page "Games Press login".

If I follow the other link I get a 2 page sample from the

    Strategy Guide.

Could you please tell me, how do I get the Free Strategy Guide?

    Greetings

    Rolf

  3. Close Combat is a VERY (!) SLOW game and so it's

controllable. And you get everytime the big picture!

CM:CF is a fast game and you can only take

your attention to one or two POI's.

The only experience from the RT-aspect

for me was time pressure ...

  4. isn't that simply WEGO with flexible order intervals?
    No,

you can't check back on other parts of

the battlefield and check out what has

happend in the last seconds on the other

    points of action.

A battlefield has many points of action,

but people have only one attention.

For many wargamer this is like blindness.

Other games with RTS aspect - for example

Close Combat - shows you the big picture

and expand very, very slow ...

    So it's better controllable

  5. The LOS-tool not only is for LOS.

It was a good tool for terrain analyzes.

I expected more LOS-tools, to get a better

big picture from the 3D battlefield on a flat

    2D computer monitor.

For example: Conquest of the Aegan has

    three LOS-Tools.

But overal,CM:SF is a very good game

    with much potenzial. smile.gif

  6. In case you actually start playing the game someday, instead of bitching about every single aspect of it:

there are more OPTIONS to chose from than your mouse has buttons.

This may be a strange concept to you. How about playing some Desktop Tower Defense for your wargame fix instead. Really good game. Only one mousebutton and 4 keys needed, too.

Could you please stop with this childish

    kind of argumentation?

    What Janster said was right.

This game is a good game, but need much work

and tuning for usability and gameplay ...

  7. This problem is not as big in RT since you can instantly correct a wrong path or wrong reaction and don't have it up to 59 seconds move the wrong way.
    Sorry Redwolf,

tryed RT very hard .. but the action takes place in many parts of the battlefield. In RT I can correct one or two of this situations not more. I can't get back the WEGO-minute to see, what has happend on on the other side of the battlefield.

RT ist time pressure pur, and the ESC-pause a nice feature. Not more.

    just my two cents

By the way: I love this game! I enjoy every minute, but only the WEGO-aspekt smile.gif

  8. Personally, I never play WeGo (as I've said many times before)
    Sorry, but

    I can't believe this ...

What makes someone with this attitude here in the Battlefront forum?

There are so many games out there (C&C Tiberium wars, Empire Earth, Company of Heroes, Generals ...), with much better interfaces for click-kings and fast-scroll-clickers, which he instead can play.

RT games are won by gamers whith the fastest clickrate.

I choose BATTLEFRONT and their games, because you have time to think and plan and anlalyse, because BATTLEFRONT are the WEGO-experts. And I expect, we get a better WEGO with better WEGO-tools. Airborne Assault for example has in its 3rd edition

    3 (THREE !) LOS-tools!

I played only one game in RT. The only experience I have, was time pressure.

Completely redundant time pressure. NEVER again ...

Shure I can give orders in SP if I press Escape.

But that is so comfortably like WEGO in the 18th century.

One tip from me: go back to the roots! You are THE spezialists in WEGO, not in RT. Think in USABILITY for your customer, what tools are realy needed

(perfect hulldown order, better 3D-Terrain analysis tools, free LOS-Tools, exchangeable replays of the whole game for common learning,

    camera savepoints ...,)

    Don't get me wrong: I love CM:SF!

But with the noticeably RT-trend, I have fear, that you get lost in a market, you are only one under many others.

    Greetings

Sorry for my english - its not the best smile.gif

  9. It's simple:

    I'm a wargamer (hope ist *g*).

I'm a wargamer because I like to think and plan.

The only way to think and plan in a game like this is a system like WEGO.

If I would like to play realtime, there are many other games out there ...

    I play CM since CM1.

If CMSF realy was planed as a realtime game,

then that was it for me ...

I think, time will tell ...

  10. Same to me ...

    - Can't see the hole picture like in SC1

    - Worldmap useless, if I can't klick and go to position like in Panzer General ...

    - No scroll funktion on mouse-Button or WASD

    - To much to scroll ...

    - SC1 was genius in terms of USABILITY

In SC2 I have to press much more keys and have to do much more scolling and get much lesser information.

    Sorry, deletet the game

    Good luck with this ...

  11. Hallo smile.gif

I am just started with CM and would like to copy some of the missionbriefings from the missions, to Word and then print and read it in my armchair smile.gif

But I don't find a solution - (only with screenshots).

I am trying to open the scenarios with the editor, but I can't find a option to view the 3 texts/mission (or copy and paste) the briefings (?).

    How can I do it?

    Any solution?

    Greetings
