  1. So, I'm playing the game in windowed mode - which is great - except for the fact that when I come back to the game sometimes all the events have cleared from the screen, so I don't see the message that this army was destroyed, etc. until I actually look for the army and it doesn't exist. Would it be possible to turn on an AAR report for the end of each turn which one could review during the turn? This would allow one to look back over what had happened. Might even be neat to have this AAR report always available for all turns - so one can look back at the course of combat over time.

  2. Just a quick update, FYI.

    1. I found that if I minimize the game and don't return to it until the next turn begins (which I can tell via the little icon in my taskbar flashing green) then usually it works. Not always, but usually.

    2. If I save the game, exit to the main menu, and attempt to load the game again I get a dialog box as it attempts to load the saved game stating:

    "FAILED(on_menu_command): Segmentation violation"

When I click okay to the error message SC2 closes out automatically.

    3. I can then reload SC2 and load the game without any issues.

I know its not a high priority - but just in case any of this explains why this is occurring and provides a potential fix...It'd be great for me. :)

  3. I just noticed another bug in Weapons & Warfare. When I click to increase research on something the number doesn't change - but the purchase is actually made. I have to exit out of the research screen and then go back into it before it refreshes.

FYI, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1720 with a Centrino CPU and 4 GB of RAM. I'm running Weapons and Warefare in windowed mode and using video acceleration.

  4. So, I got the Weapons and Warfare expansion in large part b/c it allows me to play the game in a windowed mode so I can swap back and forth between working on things and taking a mind break. I booted up the 1939 Fall Weiss campaign and played my turn, ended it, and switched to my browser. A minute later I switch back and prepare to fight my next turn. I click on one of my units - I can move the unit but I am unable to attack enemy units. I think I discovered a bug. :)

I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1720 with an Intel Centrino processor and 4 GB of RAM.

  5. Hi Folks,

Its been a while since I posted here...But I was recently over at Wargamer.Com and happened upon the "Vote for Game of the Month" area and decided to vote for Strategic Command. I just thought I'd spread the word and see if anyone else thought it would be worthwhile to promote it as game of the month? I've definetly enjoyed it. Currently it probably has one vote (b/c of me), but the highest game has only twenty-four votes and most of the rest only three...I think it would be pretty easy to make it take first place if the individuals on this forum gave it a push. :) Anyways, just a thought.

    Respectfully,

    David.

  6. Yeah...I was playing on the hardest level. I'm not big for replayability, so if I beat it on normal I'm not likely to try hard next...I'll just leave the game alone...So I start on the hardest...But after I wrote that post I was able to break their lines and take France and was expanding but the demo doesn't have a save feature and I don't have all day to play. :)

As far as good Civil War games go. I am an avid fan (and webmaster) of W.R. Hutsell's VGA Civil War Strategy Game (strategical) and EGA Civil War Battleset (tactical w/campaign mode). Adanac Command Studies offers a free Civil War game somewhat like SC that I never could get into but a lot of people seem to enjoy. As mentioned, Civil War Generals 2 is an excellent game and can be picked up for a few bucks. Besides that, there isn't much that I know of available right now...But in the near future keep your eyes open for Walker Boy Studio's War Between the States (www.walkerboystudio.com). Its a strategical and tactical level game and from its screenshots appears to be beautifully rendered. Also, to a lesser extent keep your eyes open for Mad Minute Games' new Civil War game which will be released sometime in the future...But Walker Boy Studio's game (I think) is the one to go with.

    Respectfully,

    David.

  7. Hi,

My name is David Mackey and I just downloaded the demo of Strategic Command and have been playing it for around an hour. Its great! However I must admit that I have not had much luch in my invasion of France. The blitzkrieg has quickly become the "they're slaughtering me and I don't want to attack anymore."

I am a little confused on one point however. While I focus most of my troops in sweeping around rather than through the Siegfried line, I've several times desired to set up a defensive line of infantry in front of the Siegfried. But I find the French always attack me, never losing any troops and always inflicting heavy casualties. This seems somewhat unrealistic? What seems to be implied is that my men are standing within range of the enemies troops in the open and are being mowed down?

    Respectfully,

    David.
