  1. Servus,

Yea Blackcat, I can see the trend going towards RTS as well. But, and this is a BIG but: WeGo was what always defined CM for me! It was the last platoon of brave and courageous men, facing the onslaught of the economical forces... I am not angry. I am very dissapointed.

Still wish BF luck and great revenue from their product. I think CM just died on me there.

and I don't expect a reply from you, with your allowance and all... gg

  2. Servus,

did I get this right, that there is no Tcp/IP online WeGo? Only PbeM. I have always played all CMs with my buddy over Tcp/IP. Don't give me realtime crap. Panicking again. Sorry.

I kinda see the sense behind this, correct me if I'm wrong: Wego only sends packages at the end of a round via Tcp/IP, so this could well be changed to PbeM. But is the PbeM system automated enough, that I don't have to exit the game, load the new PbeM file etc. To rephrase it: Can I play a battle with my buddy conveniently and in one big session as we are wont to do?

I have to admit, I never played beM.

    Hoping.

    Flo

  3. I remember seeing some of these sketches, or at least similar looking ones, in the stuff my grandfather left me. Obviously they were just prints handed out to soldiers. Are they still worth anything in the U.S.? Contrary to the originals, which of course 'd bring a small fortune.

Btw, I happen to own a copy of " Die Wehrmacht " printed in 1941. Anyone interested? It's propaganda material, depicting every german battle as a great victory. Wonder what's that worth in the U.S.?

  4. Ok I know what this double layer thing is. The NASA still uses double layered armour against mini-meteor hits in space, but you can't expect to survive even little time in a fight. Am I wrong? I have no military training at all. This CM thing is just a hobby of mine. But it still seems utter madness to me,cowering behind one of these PAKs and not be scared sh$&less. My 2 cents, not that they are on topic.

  5. I don't get it!

His sudden appearance startled me, and I didn't see the stripes, just the medals and brass. I figured it was a field grade officer, and snapped him my best salute. That following Sunday I found myself mopping floors in battalion headquarters.

BTW, he would salute 2nd Lieutenants; but not even Captains tried to tell him what to do. He answered to the Battalion commander only.

Does this mean you were below his rank. If you were below you should salute, shouldn't you?

I know that 2nd Lieutenants are above as captains are. Do you mean he was an NCO with much experience and respect? Why shouldn't you salute him anyway?

  6. Thx guys! Very exact clarification on my topic! I wonder what JasonC is doing. Are you a history professor? You're profile says research analyst. Can't really put that into context. Is this war thing just a hobby of yours? It is incredibly sophisticated, I am thouroughly impressed. You surely improved my tactical CM abilities a great deal! Thx to the other forumists as well, I've learned a lot! I will be back with more stupid questions which I'm kinda too lazy to research for myself. It's much more fun in here thx

  7. Ah excellent replies thx as i have expected. So that means to become a comissioned officer you'd have to have gone to some college like West Point to be able to start as a lieutenant and rise in military hierarchy, whereas enlisted men who have done some great deed could only be promoted to master sergeant or Oberfeldwebel.

OK I was just wondering if Richard Winters had a commission and was about to contradict you, but I looked it up in BoB and he was at the start of the American involvement into the war a "newly commissioned graduate of OCS, [...] 2nd Lts. Dick Winters from Pennsylvania. Thx for the clarification. Something to impress my CM mate with. We have been arguing about this for ages! smile.gif

  8. Dear Major Grog,

I have been playing this game now for quite some time. I have read a lot about WWII and I have watched BoB. But I still don't quite understand what non-committed officers are. I'm german and I know what to commit means. I think non-committed officers are not put into direct combat as not to risk them becoming casualties. But what strikes me, if I understood it correctly, is that every platoon has several NCO's and CO's, although the only non-committed officer should be the platoon leader, delegating dangerous tasks to his inferiors. I would be greatly obliged to you for any clarification on the topic.

    Yours sincerely

    Private Gross

(being aware of the stupid meaning of gross in English but means big or great in German)

  9. Hi Gents!

Another stupid question by me. I got the CDV (european) version of cmbb. Since lots of you people think die Waffen SS troops are better equipped, more firepower and stuff, i'd like to know how to get them. My guess is that they are named WG in the european version, because it's not allowed to show swastikas and other nazi stuff in games, newspapers, whatever in germany. Am I right?

By the way it's Deutschland, whenever there's an s an an h there's gotta be a c in between. Sorry for being a smart ass.
