  1. The following is from someone new to CM

I'm using an Aluminum case G4 Powerbook running OS 10.39, but I can run OS 9 on it as well. When the battle scene is supposed to start I get a black screen with a segmented white bar across part of the screens center, with the game sounds in the background. When I back out using the esc key and come back in I get a frozen keyboard and what looks like the starting position with a white bar across the bottom of the screen.

  2. I play CM obsessively. I am even more obsessed with civil war history. (Although, no civil war game approaches CM.) My wife is tolerant of these obsessions. What amazes me is she allows me to still go to Gettysburg despite the fact I almost had an affair with a woman I met at Gettysburg. This woman not only liked the civil war but enjoyed gaming. My wife realised that my friendship with this woman might be evolving into something more and confronted me. I have not spoken to that woman again. Anyway, my wife still tolerates my historical obsessions and I have a greater love for her because of it.

  3. It took me several times. The key was to use the folowing concept. Fire, fix and flank.

I split one squad into two and advanced them up the road. Each went into a house and fired on the mg when it presented itself.

I then advanced the other troops up the far left of the map. I sent one of those squads into the woods and fired on the mg.

I sent the rest of the units to the woods to the left of the mg and eventually behind the mg as I would use a unit and fire with him and move the others. The MG was fixed and ducking with lead coming from all angles.

I then sent the commander and remaining squads behind the mg. There is good terrain to do that. They can cross the fence at bottom of hill and can't be targetted.

    After turn 14:

I now had half a squad in the woods behind the mg. 2 half squads in houses in front of him. One squad in woods in front. The rest and the commander are now behind him at bottom of hill.

I now simultaneously advanced the troops in the houses and the troops behind him to the mg. fire was maintained with troops in the woods in front and behind. The mg surrendered with minimal loss to my troops.

I installed CMBB and when it loads I have hard time moving mouse over opening menu..it usually freezes...it only gets worse..after hitting ctrl-altesc, i can reopen game and then it becomes clear my system is woring hard...the fans are running and the machine obviously heats up..

shortly afterwards, I get a blue screen that tells me that i have an error and my computer restarts...the error then takes me to internet explorer which tells me that it is probably a driver issue...

I updated my driver, bios and directx..nothing has helped

    I have the following laptop

    pentium 4

    1.7 gig-M, 14.1 SXGA +ATI 16mb video
