  1. First off, just got it and I ordered it Thursday night. . .not too bad!

Secondly, to battlefront and the author, fantastic work, the tables are exceptionally helpful, and to be honest, I was hoping for something like this few years ago when I bought CMBO.

Very grateful and satisfied in Pittsburgh.

It is funny that you should mention this. Last night during a quick battle allied assault, I, as the Soviet commander, saw just that. A tank that I flanked the main position of the German defense had captured a MG42 crew, the standard 1 man ok 5 casualities. The 34 then knocked out a pillbox that had been chewing up 3 squads of pioneers for the last turn turns. The crew from the pillbox jumped out, was blasted and then also surrendered.

When the 3 squads that were being shot at by the pillbox made there way up the hill they promptly killed the captured men. Oh well, Russian justice I assume.

I have a P4 2,4 Ghz CPU...is there some possibility to burn the CPU playing this scenario?...It took more than 20 minutes for the AI to think the setup!

Pardon if this is a silly question.

Best bet is to just delete from your folder! :D I want to know who can run it, anyone out there? And why include it on the CD?

My guess then would be that the computer is giving some value to map and terrain. Is there something environmental that might be prohibitive to the use of armor or something that the comp doesn't want to invest in it?

Because honestly, I've played attacks, ME, probe, assaults and really have never had this problem.

Also why not set your force at armor, rather than mechanized and combined arms. Or perhaps unrestricted. . . not sure exactly how to answer but I hope this might help.

  5. Earlier I was playing a quickbattle with a friend of mine. I believe it was June 41 computer pick.

The AI choose to buy my opponent 3 PzIIIH and 6 Panzer38. . . So i'm not sure it never buys tanks.

By the way, it was on a small map with 700 pts.

I prefer having just about everything set on random for quick battles, really asks you to think about your tactics. Except for hills and tree coverage, nothing worse than an assault over 400 meters of open ground

Only one complaint so far, the photographs (black & white) of the screenshots are too tiny, lack sharpness and detail. The important objects (i.e. tanks & infantry) in the photos tend to blend into the terrain and background. Often it is very hard to actually see and even sometimes impossible what the author is trying to show in the example. This is disappointing :( So far the text is descriptive enough to get the picture.

Shucks, and here I just, I mean just, ordered mine!
  7. No, you were right, I did mean a QB. There was a site for CMBO that would generate everythign randomly for you and then you would include the parameters.

The way the computer does it with everything random, I get flat maps half the time and very uneven force combinations. How bout infantry with no infantry support against a dug in defender who has a platoon of medium tanks? It has happened far too often.

I setup a strong fire support base in the woods (mgs, IG, ACs) and loaded everything else on my far right flank. I pinned/smoked the enemy units in the town, and advanced/cleared his left flank and then rolled up the line. I was fortunate in that only one ATG ever had LOS on my vehicles (in the woods on his left flank) and it was taken out the turn after it appeared and before it could take out any vehicles (it was in the path of my entire manuever element so it quickly bought it). The other ATG was on the other side of the map (his right flank) and was never engaged. I can't remember how many bunkers the enemy had, but they/it were on the side of the map I didn't engage. I remember I did take one out from behind near the very end of the battle after I had cleared most of the town. It was to his right of the town, just far enough so as to not have LOS on any of my units.

One of the keys for me was placement of the IG. I placed it in one of the corners of the zig-zag placement zone so as to have LOS to as much of the town as possible. I used it to level every building it could see before my assault-proper began. It was the big killer for me, I remember that. The other key was adequate suppression. My support base was in good position to suppress each enemy position in front of the advance of my manuever element, thereby facilitating a fairly rapid advance. Because of terrain (and careful use of smoke), I never had to worry about enfilade fire into my advance.

Since my experience seems to differ from many people's, I must have gotten lucky with how the AI setup it's troops. I can't remember if I used default setup or let the computer pick it. I usually leave it as the designer sets it, so it would have been as such.

I may be mistaken, but it sounds like you let the computer set up on its own. If you leave it on the default. There will be one MG Bunker at the bottom of the church, and two AT Guns dug in on either side. Plus that defensive line (barbed wire and fox holes) guarding an attack from the right flank.
