To be specific the Kharkov or the Krashny Krim(spelling) the Novorissiisk cement factory battle.

    Since you got me going:

    the Krasnyj Krym was a WWI-era Lt. Cruiser, mounting 15x 130mm / 4x 100mm / 4x 76mm.

    The Charkov was a fairly modern (commissioned 1938) Destroyer Leader, mounting 5x 130mm / 2x 76mm. </font>

Thank you von Lucke and Mike. In the scenario I'm designing the 305mm represents naval bombardment. In the battle naval bombardment by the Black Sea Fleet was a factor. Okay, I will have to live with the delay.

Oh, you should have said that in the first place!

Yr talking about the Parizhskaya Kommuna / Sevastopol (12x 305mm / 16x 120mm)? Yeah, she did a lot of work around the beaches of Feodosiya and Sudak, and the Crimea in general. But if yr looking for shore bombardment, it would most likely be Cruisers or Destroyers, so try 180/152/130mm for CR's, or 102/76mm for DD's, respectively. </font>

This is only an educated guess, but I'd suspect it's because super-heavy arty like this is (was) mostly used for prep-fire and fire plan bombardments, i.e: Not usually on-call for battalion-level commanders. It would be in short supply along the front, and yr last-minute call up would go on a waiting list until they finished with whatever else they were pummeling.

Oh, and considering there were only something like 36x 305mm howitzers in existence, you'd be lucky to see them in action at all, outside of siege work.

So, if you insist on wasting points on it, use it immediately, during turn 1, or not at all.

  4. Micheal,Panzer thank you. I figured along those lines. To give you an idea what I'm trying to create is the terrian of the Black Sea Coast in the Caucasus. Brown steppe is perfect for this it's kind of dessert type terrian from what I can see. Okay it looks like I will have to take out some more brush. thanx agian

  5. Currently designing a map. The problem is I want the steppe to remain brown. When I add other types of terrian it turns green. The parameters are very dry ground and hot/August. I find myself taking off other types of terrian to get it back to brown. Is there a way around this? Is there something I'm not doing? Currently using latest drivers. thanx

  6. Played Hill 621 great scenario!

Blew the dust off of my ASL stuff. Looked at some of scenerios. What great stuff.Did'nt play all of them, missing some of them :(

One of favorites(can't remember the number)

is when the russian player has KV's and I

think some T-28's and tries to exit of the map.

German has some AT's and a 88. I can remember rolling and my KV's breaking down. Great scenario.

  7. Let me start by saying if BF said they could not do something like this, I would go on loving this game, it's my dream come true.To me it's ASL 3-D.

By adding a strat layer things take on more purpose. Mech units would be faster than infantry and show on a strat layer(flanking).

A decision would be made at the start of a campaign to have airborne fight as airborne or fight as infantry(iF they have air transport).Prisoners take on new purpose when they get interrogated revealing unit locations and compositions.

Don't get me wrong. I love this game as is.

  8. It would be a great idea! You could have more than two people involved for online play.

You could assign units to players(one person being a general)and decide how your arty and air are used.Every player would have a record.

Citations/medals and bad things like being relieved of command would be on it. :( Yes it would add another dimension and would be great for online play. smile.gif Total War would be a excellent model but limit it to a campaign/operation area.
