  1. I've played CMBB only and I agree Spookster. The Eastern Front was the 'big show' and Africa/Med. was like a side show that didn't matter. The hardware in the East was cutting edge and rapidly developing on both sides which interests me, as well as the varying terrain and weather conditions.

I just hope interest in CMBB doesn't wane!

  2. In a scenario where I had to advance with tanks across an open field in the face of several emplaced AT guns, I tried repeatedly to use direct fire to destroy them.

The icon would show a very low % 'to hit' or even 0%, and I was having no luck. As soon as I switched to area fire and set the target icon right next to the foxhole, the gun crews quickly retreated after a few near hits!

Question: At what hit % do you usually switch to this technique? Does it work vs. any hardened target (heavy bldg, bunker, infantry in crater/foxhole/trench)?

Thanks for any input into this subject!

  3. So in a QB I had wanted to move my Panther G up the back of a hill using Fast Move, then draw a Hull Down point to a salient about 500m away where I thought some IS2's would emerge from. Problem is that the Panther kept moving all the way to the end of the Hull Down waypoint.

When using Hull Down, does the enemy have to be ID'd? If there is no Hull Down possible, how do you keep your tank from driving alll over the Eastern Front looking for one?

    Thanks! tongue.gif

  4. That explains it! My current battle... Dec. '44 with Frozen conditions... a King Tiger only made it 3 turns of open ground travel (not fast either) before bogging.

Another Question... once 'bogged' is there any command that increases my chance to get moving again (i.e. Halt/Reverse), or should I leave the current waypoints and let the AI try and get out of its boggedy condition?

  5. I think it depends alot on the terrain... open fields you probably need to let the armor lead... forest/city the armor should be closely supported by the infantry.

Also it sounds like you need to be using 'scout' units to probe for enemy positions/strengths rather than rush blindly into unknown positions. Halftracks/Kubelwagons/scout cars/light tanks are made for this kind of duty and were used as such in real battles. If you're purchasing units in Quick Battles, invest in a few of these.

    ;)
