  1. Yeah i know what you mean Liebchen. When you're playing a game you don't have any visablity of what is happening in the lobby. I've come out of online games against the bots seen someone asked 2-3 times for a match up but I never saw it.

Maybe the game could have a feature that flags your interested as a PvP player and you get a chime or something when another PvP flaged player logs in or comes out of any existing game?

  2. Thanks for that answer Moon. I actually had it happen to one of my guys last night so my main pilot my just have been unlucky to have flown 5-6 missions and not regained it.

Just a question on what constitutes a successful mission is a victory or merely one where you don't get shot down?

  3. The main advantage of height seems to be to determine who goes first, as the higher player always has the first turn.

In your example you’d have to discard a card to climb (or have the skill to nullify that) while if you’re diving you’re gaining 1 card (2 with the skill). So if you max hand size is 6 climbing to attack will give you 5-6 cards while diving to attack will give you 7-8 cards.

  4. My best pilot got killed a couple of days ago on the first turn when he had the horrible luck of drawing only one reaction card and 6 damage cards agains a half loop, IMS D and ace pilot combo.

Anyways that sucked but not as much as having the wingman (+1att, +1 def) take over as leader and not being able to retrain his skills or am i missing something?

  5. I agree, all I'd expect from the demo would be a couple of fighters (I.e. Germany only vs the British and only up to the Bf109E) and a limited sent of pilot skills. This should be just enough to give us a feel for the game with the rest of the nations, campaigns and online competition giving you the promise of much more.

That said I could understand if you wanted to put one of the smaller campaigns like Dunkirk in the demo. But I feel that the Solomon Islands AAR really tells you all you really need to know about how that side of the game works. From my point of view all I really want to get from the demo is how the dogfighting part of the game works, feels and plays out like.

This is way I increased it to a 2 instead of a 1. since both the spit1 and hurri 1 both have 8 guns and a third greater rate of fire. i think if you apply a rule it should be across the board and even handed

perhaps also consider in addition, increase damage rating for cannon armed planes , +1 for two or more 20mm or 1 or 2 x 30mm and +2 for 4x30mm or more .

I was thinking along similar lines last night regarding the damage bonus, as I was unaware until yesterday that there was the ability to add damage to hits in DiF.

Honestly I think such a system has a lot of merit but if the game is stable and near complete in it’s current state I wouldn’t change the system to delay the release.

If it could be added as a mod or trialed post realise I'd be very interested in seeing it but at the moment my desire to the get game is overiding everything ;)

  7. Not totally Tomb as you are only talking about weight of fire and firepower which are great if you’re shooting at bombers but when you’re shooting at a fighter muzzle velocity and ROF become much more important. You half said it yourself when you talked about the RAF interceptors deliberately kept their armaments mixed, while the all cannon fighters were held back for V1 and ground attack.

Everything that I have read would indicate that the 30mm mk108 while devastating, performed poorly when used against fighters because of its poor muzzle velocity of only 500m/s. This limited its effective range when compared to the MGs and good canons like the hispano MkV which had Muzzle velocities in the 800m/s. So I don’t think it should receive such high FP rating like 20.

The only other thing that I would add is that your MG FF figure doesn’t seem right according to my web source http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/8217/fgun/fgun-pe.html has it as a ROF of 530 rpm with a 134g shot which would give it 2.86lb a sec.

From a game play point of view I thing that if DiF as a system of calculating these values then it should be stuck too (esp this close to release?? :D ). Also I think that if the P47 lost it’s burst 2 then there wouldn’t be any incentive to fly it over the P51 once people max out their XP.

    {Edit}

Just on your fomula Dan what has a rating of 41+ All I can think of is a fully decked out He219 Owl?

  8. Cool it's good to know that it's on the wish list as it's something that i'd really like to have the option of doing.

Just another random thought. Once you lose your career pilot is their record deleted or is it retained until it's surpassed on the leader board?

  9. Thanks for that answer Dan it calmed my fears a lot, as I only have a limited amount of time to commit to the PC and didn't really want to have to play for more that an hour or two at a time.

So as the missions are played/saved one at a time and one day only takes about 30mins the campaigns will be very playable for me.

  10. Will there be any way of using experence to personalise you pilots planes with custom graphics for spinner’s, engine cowlinings, kill marking and the like? If not would there be any possiblity of including them in a future release?

Also do Medals and rank give you any bonuses in game terms?

  11. Firstly thanks to bartbert and Dan for their answers in the few thoughts thread. But I just thought I’d start a new thread for questions re the campaign side of the game as they sound really interesting, plus I didn’t want to steal Tomb’s thread.

I must say that I’m surprised that the campaigns won’t be available offline. It’s probably only because I’ve got use to the trend with most RTS/TBS games having an offline campaign with the allure of online skirmish. So could you give us an idea of how much time it would take to finish say, the Solomon Islands campaign? And it’s probably a stilly question but can you save your progress in the online campaigns or do have to play all the way though in one sitting?

In regular dogfights, you can have up to four elements involved, and some of those could be human opponents while others are controlled by the AI. The campaign game is only two player, however.

Thanks for your answers bartbert and Dan, but I'm still a little confused by parts of the above statement, so please can you clarify one point for me.

Can you play the campaigns solo against the AI locally (i.e. offline)?

    Thanks

  13. Yeah I was thinking the same thing about their being no single player and I’m still a little unsure wither it’s limited to the campaigns only or can you have a solo career playing skirmish against the AI? And if it is the case that you can solo against the AI then, I’d agree that it the online scores would hold more value than those that are chalked up against the AI.

I haven’t played the card game but I’d guess that the gunner in the Bf110C would give you the opportunity to play a 1 burst in my sites card against the attacker if you are in a disadvantaged or tailed position?

  14. Disagree Bill -- Britain should NOT be allowed to build in Alexandria, though I would favor some ANZAC Corps arrivals now and then.
We'll they'd be a great use wouldn't they? If you don't the the HQ there already they are useless. I think Bill's idea is the most simple and easiest one to implement, but I like him might be close minded
  15. 1. AFAIK ports offer no more than a supply bonus to ships. No additional bonuses.

Hi, just checked the manual (page 47) ports do offer a terrain bonus of 2 against air and naval attack. Thats the same bonus that mountains get from those types of attacks.
